The Definition - Behemoth (dubstep)
This was my first attempt at a dubstep track. I just wanted to get some feedback to know what you guys think and If this is a style you may like. Critique on mixing and other production topics would be helpful as well. Thanks!

First attempt? I think you've been practising in secret...
It seems to me that youve got two intros, why dont you try removing the part between 0:53 - 1:48 and see what happens. When the filthy stuff sets in I think youve got a good start... there seems to be two quite similar sounds (wobbles I mean, not the other ones) going on (one longer/lower lfo rate and one shorter/higher lfo-rate) and I think they interfere with each other and loose definition. I would have tried removing the distorsion from one of them or substitute with a less distorted sound and changing the pitch a little bit. Overall I think that theres a little too much going on at the same time, what would happen if you introduced the different elements one after the other and slowly layer them up - off course, you would end up in the same situation with some kind of chaos but then it would have been as a result of a build up instead, wich I think is better...
Theres a lot of distorsion and I think its because of that there is an overall unpleasant highfrequency noise layered on top of everything, if that happened to me I would try to change the settings on the (whatever it is in the DAW that creates the) distorsion, attenuate it with EQ or just play the sounds half an octave (or so) lower.
Just my two cents from the top of my head, but its youre tune in the end mate.

Have you been making other types of music before? If not, this is beastly for being completely new to music making...If you have, it's still really good. Wish I had ideas like that...
Re: The Definition - Behemoth (experimental dubstep)
Low end? There is hardly a bass sound present until four minutes into the track? I'd go back to the drawing board on that. Also, as emm said, a lot of high freq noise that needs cut out here. Dunno if the drums will sound better when you get those high freqs sorted, but they could punch through the mix more. Sounds very 8-bit-ish (not saying that is a bad thing if it is what you are going for, I can go for a some 8-bit elements on the right track).
Not a bad first go, but there is room for improvement

Dude, I thought the track was nice. Everything I wanted to say was pretty much said by the other guys, but my advice would be to maybe put in some more melodies in it, other than that I thought it was a very pleasant listen :].

Wow, thanks for all the helpful comments, I'll definitely be able to finish the track with all the input I've received.
@Emm: First of all, thanks for the detailed review, I didn't expect to get this much feedback on my first track posting. You do have a some interesting points on the introduction, I was having a hard time with the structure coming from producing trance and I did feel as if it was too long. Although, I was going for a cliffhanger, I think I'll give that a shot immediately. As for the high-end frequencies and muddled structure, listening to it again, I couldn't agree with you more! I guess I got a bit sloppy on my sound design during all the excitement.
@TheBrownie: I have been working on other music for a few years now ( Hip Hop, R&B, Rap, Trance, Breaks, and Orchestral composition. ) and I just got into Dubstep a little over a year ago. I have other tracks that I've been working on in the meantime, but I've always wanted the opinion of those experienced in this type of music. I must admit that the sound design makes Dubstep a blast to produce!
@fragments: I made this on a laptop, so I think that's why there's an apparent lack of low-end frequencies. Now that I'm back at home on the desktop, I'll get right to it. Thanks!
@Nickelwound: I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll make sure I don't make any drastic changes so that you'll still like the end product. After all, it's people like you that I'm trying to appeal to.
I appreciate all the help you guys have given me and now I know what I have to do. I'll be sure to post an update to the topic when the changes have been made.

I'd recommend at least a decent pair of headphones if you are going to use a laptop "away from the studio". Trying to do anything on laptop speakers seems like time spent not as well as it could be. Except maybe just getting the placement of drum and percussion samples down.
