[MCR] 14/07 Now Then BROKEN BUBBLE @ Dulcimers

Post by cogidubnus » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:42 pm

Thursday 14th July 7.30pm-12
@ The Dulcimer Bar
Wilbraham Road, Chorlton (opposite Morrisons)
Manchester

DUSKKY / HURTDEER / COGIDUBNUS

Now Then Manchester presents a showcase of live DJs from the Manchester-based Broken Bubble record label.

Performing will be live DJs from the Broken Bubble online record label, mixing sets from their various recordings. Duskky’s new EP is set to be released on 11th July; he’ll be joined by fellow Mothers Against Noise collective member Hurtdeer and Broken Bubble label founder Cogidubnus. The three will share the stage and each brings their own interpretation of electronic production, so be prepared for varied explorations into ambient, IDM, future garage, post-dubstep, dubfunk, jungle and electronica.

London-based producer Duskky released his Aber EP via Broken Bubble earlier this year as a group of five tracks warping layers of deep bass, curious vocal clips, fidgeting funk and seismically shifting beats. A full-length album, Illeism, is available through Acroplane Recordings. Expect this slot to be a journey through dark electronic dimensions; coordinates set to dance.

Hurtdeer

Hurtdeer’s mixes progress from desolate ambient soundscapes of glitch-ridden shuffles and scuzzily stifled minimal tech to pounding processed beats and echoing dubstep. When the Belgian moved to London, he brought with him a wide range of influences from acid to breakcore via off-kilter IDM, filtering it all into a handful of tracks under the I Am Decay EP on Broken Bubble. Hurtdeer also produced a full album via Acroplane Recordings, which goes by the name of Junta.

Cogidubnus

Manchester’s Broken Bubble label boss Cogidubnus will set the mood with some of the atmospheric rumbles of The Pan-Galactic Memory Bank EP; an ambient glide through the haunting echoes of future garage and dub, while persistent beats rain down over shimmering sci-fi.
