SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE / SOUL JAZZ PODCAST (WNCL)

The legendary Soho based recording emporium, SOUNDS OF THE UNIVERSE (also home of Soul Jazz Records), have a relatively new blog up on their website and accompanying podcast series - the latest contribution is from yours truly, WEST NORWOOD CASSETTE LIBRARY.

I decided to approach specific producers for tracks that I'm really feeling right now and head off to Transition Studios, Forest Hill to cut everything to dubplate. Of course, I've also chucked in a few cuts, new and old, from the WNCL studio and label. Here's the lowdown...

TRACKLIST
01 . KNOWING LOOKS . Abandoned Skip (forthcoming WNCL Recordings)
02 . BLAWAN . Shader (dubplate)
03 . BLAWAN . Bohla (dubplate)
04 . T.WILLIAMS & BREACH . The Bees (dubplate)
05 . HACKMAN . Made Up My Mind (forthcoming PTN)
06 . BRACKLES . Blazeby (dubplate)
07 . WEST NORWOOD CASSETTE LIBRARY . What It Is (VIP) (dubplate)
08 . JACE SYNTAX . Jackin’ Around (WNCL Remix) (forthcoming Mutate)
09 . KNOWING LOOKS . Cytal Fink (dubplate)
10 . WEST NORWOOD CASSETTE LIBRARY . Body Rock (dubplate)

Couldn't agree more. Hope this one sees a vinyl release...

Why, thank you! Body Rock was originally slated for release on Ashley Beedle's Street Knowledge label way back when. It got as far as test press and then the label folded. I am the original kiss of death...

Ah balls. Really hoping that one sees a release. I think your sound is massively underrated. Blonde on Blonde and Body Rock sound like some super classic house records from the 90s. They're just honestly some of the best things I've heard in the genre.
Keep doing what you're doing though :corndance:
