so is this stuff closer to the stuff that was getting played when the funky scene was starting to take off and before a lot of the uk producers got on it? i know there's a couple of uk producers there, but the T/L is largely US and European.

i mean, this is pure unadulterated house. not to say that more recent uk output isn't of course, but certainly its fusion with more recent styles of uk music is more manifest. where as this is, as i see it, more closely aligned to the house tradition.

Deep house became popular amongst the mandem when they started to think they were to cool for Soulfuric.

yeah spot on. wookie's always played deep, soulful house in his dj sets. even when he was putting together bangers like scrappy and storm, he was playing out with sets like this. it's not a bandwagon thing.

are there m(any) house djs who play across the board mixing deep with the more funky, the techier stuff and the new uk stuff. i'd be really interested in hearing some of that.

coz most mixes i've heard draw heavily on one style, possibly deep and techny but never a mash of everything - i enjoy those mixes of course but would really enjoy a set that covers a few more bases. that's what i'm trying to do with my practice hours sets at the moment. not easy though.

working on this myself. hours sat listening to tracks to find good transitions and whatnot seems pretty key to me.

Not really bro house music is so wiiiide-ranging and split in various niches and factions with their own legacy/path, its only funky/dubbage/uk house and thew 'new' people in those scenes w/o any baggage that has got people trying to join the dots...

yeah i couldn't really think of anyone. my main problem is that when djs operate within such parameters i often get a little bored. this goes more for recorded mixes. totally different experience in the club.
