RUSKO
Fabric, Subsoldiers, Tempa, Dubpolice, 2ndrop, http://www.myspace.com/ruskonfire // London, UK
Christopher Mercer, aka Rusko was born in Leeds in 1985 to a musical family. From day dot Rusko was surrounded by music whether it be his families piano’s, guitars, banjo’s and saxophones…or in his later years the heavy reggae and dub sound systems of Leeds, music has always been an integral part of Rusko’s life. After graduating from Leeds university with a degree in musical performance, Rusko discovered the world of dubstep through SUB DUB and a debut appearance from the “Digital Mystikz”, having spent the past 10 years making future dub alongside Leeds very own Iration Steppas, Rusko connected with the sound and moved down to London to further advance his musical opportunities with Sub Soldiers label mate Caspa. Veering away from the dark, serious side of the sound Rusko bought a highly driven energy and fun approach to the dubstep massive and quickly coined his own take on the genre and turned the scene upside down. His sound appealed to many people outside of the dubstep world as his productions became more adventurous in formula, sound and energy. His huge hit “Cockney Thug” has been played by everyone from Pete Tong, Switch, Diplo and Santogold. And has been remixed by Buraka Som sistema, Diplo, Drop the Lime and the Scratch Perverts. His sound continues to develop with different BPM’s that lean to jungle, house, hip hop or electro, either way, whatever BPM or tempo…you can immediately tell a Rusko track. At 23 Rusko is only in 1st gear, with collaborations on the table with the likes of Switch, Diplo , Yo Majesty and Wiley the future sure is looking bright. Already setting the radio airwaves alight with his own productions and remixes of artists such as Adele, A-Trak featuring Kid Sister, Leon Jean-Marie Rusko is only going in one direction. Onwards, upwards and far beyond any producer could dream of. Rusko is like Dr Dre, Timbaland, and Switch, all rolled into one with a serious overdose of bass!

PLASTICIAN
RinseFM, Terrorhythm Recordings, www.myspace.com/plastician // London, UK
Plastician aka Chris Reed started DJ'ing in 1999 after gaining interest in the UK garage scene which was emerging on the pirate radio stations of London. He eventually gained the skills to earn himself a spot on a small pirate station called Desire FM, with a collective known as the Fearless Crew. After a few months of hard graft on Desire, Plastician and the rest of the crew moved onto South London based pirate, 2G FM - where they found a home for a good year before eventually splitting, leaving Chris to find his feet as a lone DJ. It was then that he became more involved in the music industry, getting himself a job at a distribution company called Streetsales - it was here he would gain knowledge of the way the industry worked from the inside, which led to him trying his hand at production - to further his career as a DJ by attracting more attention to his name. Plastician was then known as Plasticman, and he had various releases in 2002 on labels such as Soulja, Road, Slimzos and Contagious. He was fastly becoming a hot property in the newly emerging genre we now label as grime. 2003 was a big year for Chris, he earned himself a DJ set at the established night "FWD", and began to really establish himself as a DJ / Producer within both the dubstep and grime movements. Early in 2003, Terrorhythm Recordings was founded by The Plastician (still known as Plasticman then). It was an outlet for his own productions, with releases by himself and Mark One in the first year. After 6 months of FWD playouts and Terrorhythm releases, Rephlex took note of his production skills and signed him to their label for the release of the groundbreaking "Grime" compilation. He also gained a slot on Rinse FM, a station which boasts the discovery of artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Wiley and Roll Deep. 2004 saw The Plastician tour all over the globe - meaning he was the first UK artist to ever play dubstep or grime in many of the world’s major countries outside of the EU. This is following a good few years of touring and playing across Europe, solidifying his importance to the genres he represents. This trend has continued to this very day, as he remains one of the scene's biggest ambassadors. In 2005 Plasticman officially changed his name to The Plastician to avoid any confusion between him and Richie Hawtin, this name change was synchronised with his move from Rinse FM (London's biggest pirate radio station) to BBC Radio One, where he would host the station's first ever dedicated grime and dubstep show in the beginning of 2006. After spending 18 months at the BBC, Plastician moved back onto pirate radio station Rinse FM in 2007, beginning a show in his new Monday night slot with co-host and long time friend MC Nomad. The show rapidly became one of Rinse FM’s most listened to shows and has become staple listening for dubstep fans ever since the switch. 2008 saw the much delayed but highly anticipated release of Plastician’s debut album “Beg To Differ” on his own Terrorhythm imprint. Releases from Joker shortly followed on the label – another artist who has gone from strength to strength since his first releases. To this day Joker is still working closely with Terrorhythm where he is managed in house by co-owner Charles Holgate. With the much increased popularity of Dubstep in the UK market alone, Plastician has been extremely busy playing gigs all over the world in 2008 and 2009, with barely any time to work on music production his sets have become more galvanised and have been described by some publications as “surgically precise”. It is not unusual for Plastician to get through records at ridiculous pace, which is something he works on all of the time

JEREMY
www.atlantadubstep.com , Worldwide Transmissions, Dub Anomaly Records, Household Management // Atlanta, GA
Jeremy Kirk is an Atlanta based Dubstep artist with long roots in the Southeast Drum and Bass community. Since 1995 and the days of Roger & Jeremy, as well as Faderwars, Jeremy has been behind the decks, and impressing crowds. Proud to be one of the first few DJs to push the DnB sound in Atlanta, and one of the first to even play DnB at raves in Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, and even Jackson, Miss. Roger and Jeremy were at the forefront of the emerging Southeast Drum n Bass scene. R&J held down residencies with Pleazure, Konkrete Jungle, and Shady Productions, and spun alongside all the big names of the day: Aphrodite, Mickey Finn, even Grooverider. In the early 2000's, Jeremy and Kia kept it going in Atlanta at The Church, The Globe, and every other underground venue in the city spinning alongside Dieselboy, AK1200, Bad Company UK, and Roni Size. In the last couple of years Jeremy wandered away from Drum and Bass and ran into a new sound called Dubstep. Having always been a fan of ragga and reggae vibes and bass heavy, wobbly Drum and Bass, it was easily a match. Jeremy was in love all over again. He started up atlantadubstep.com and teamed up with local promoters to start pushing the sound at weekly and monthly events. Jeremy and the guys from Corinthian Recordings also started up a digital Dubstep label called Worldwide Transmissions. Now with a strong following, Dubstep in Atlanta is starting to make a name for itself. Jeremy has production tracks in the works set to come out on some serious labels in The '09, as well as well as solid monthly Dubstep events running around town. Expect to see big 'tings from the man Jeremy in the coming year. Soon you will ALL know his name, and you will ALL be a fan.
