Bassline from Digital Mystikz - Misty Winter

Post by Harkat » Fri Nov 01, 2013 8:23 am

That low-mid bassline that sounds weird and detuned. Sounds a little bit like an old-school reese, but much more hollow? I have almost no idea of how to even start making this.

Any ideas? Cheers.

Detuned and heavily distorted/compressed sinewaves. Just get the right pitch going with the envelopes.

The distortion gives them that squarewave'y quality, the way the phasing affects the gain and makes it go from being sine'ish (when there's less gain) to square'ish (when there's more).

You could probably get something similar by filtering a reese down to almost it's fundamental and then distorting the fuck out of it. Essentially turning saws into sines into squares.
