What's your favourite ales? Porters, stouts, cider and scrumpy, larger and anything from Australia is not welcome :q:

Pretty obvious I like the dark strong real ales from my first choice haha

McEwan's Champion Ale, 7.3%!

Strong Suffolk, 6.0%

Image

Sneck Lifter, 5.1% and one of my favourites

Image

Northumberland Premium, sold at 5.2% but is often stroner

7.3% isn't really that strong over here, we've got beers that go up to 12%
where do these come from?

Yeah, most of your stuff would probably be called barley wine rather than beer. They're all English beers, and I have had strong ales over here up to 10%, they're usually guest ales and are quite rare as most people like Stella and Carling over here :(

I buy Belgian (lol) quite often when I pop into Waitrose for my posh food stock up

All you connoisseurs

I would probably drink more ale if I knew the first thing about it - I'd feel too silly ordering something if I had no idea what it was which is strange cos I only get that paranoia in the pub :?

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I know fuck all about proper ale, so I just drink vodka like a woman if I'm out, but drinking more than 2 doubles every half an hour leads to heart burn central. Ket is much easier if I wanna get messed up, fuck alcohol.
