Good call on Magritte. I love his work. Not as in your face as someone like Dali. Dali is absolutely breathtaking though. Absolutely incredible.

I think this might be my favourite Dali. Says so much. Such a grotesque image.

Francis Bacon's done some great stuff. I've got a soft spot for Giger as well. Some of his stuff is fascinating.
Alphacat posted some of Kris Kuksi's sculptures a while back and they were breathtaking.

Hieronymus Bosch and Gilbert and George are probably my favourites

Also like a lot of Francis Bacon and Goya

The Goya exhibition in Madrid really blew me away. The darkness of his work is mesmerizing. I'm really attracted to that quality in art. Something that disturbs you so much that you can't help staring at it. I feel the same way about Bosch and Bacon.
I'm not sure why i'm such a big fan of Gilbert and George. I guess it's the colours and often ludicrous subject matter.
Oh and i forgot about Lucian Freud. I absolutely love this painting

Jacek Malczewski

Marvellous thread.

well done baron, you've included works that i was thinking of, including Goya's "Saturn"... truly disturbing and thought provoking... especially since he painted it on the wall of his house and never meant for it to be displayed in public, so had no true description of it's meaning...
i love this thread already...

Quick question - how do you resize IMG tags? I want to link something, but it's like massive resolution and I don't want to piss people off.
