all joking aside, this really is rough, there's a million different reports flying around saying she's dead and others saying she's not, and a million people yelling about Sarah Palin
sad times

I talked to some of my mates over in AZ about this. Their reaction was either "Who?" or "Well, that sucks. You out tonight?"

what you watched were the paranoid ramblings of a violent psychopath, using flawed aristotelian logic to try and justify the confused and troubled thoughts in his head

Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
man, i thought the conspiracy theorists on this board were wacky, this guy is just full-schizo-tarded
Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
i have lived in phoenix for 14 years. shit like this is rare, but it seems that the most extreme views and sentiments are becoming more and more mainstream from all ends of the political spectrum.
it makes me think once again the left fails again because, in this state you can practically buy a gun from a god damn vending machine here. you can carry a concealed weapon now and it is not illegal. so, with that being said, where was the leftist participants with a gun retorting fire? i mean shit, the cops took 20 minutes to come to the scene. the bystanders had to hold the guy down until they arrived. im not condoning violence, im just saying certain sides are more willing to do what is necessary for their own goals and desires. and most leftists i have had experiences with are not ready to use such actions. holding a peace sign in front of a lunatic with a gun is not going to stop him/her from using that weapon to cause harm.
none the less, what happened today was tragic. i was extremely saddened to hear the young child die.

Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
agreed, but i will say that the 99.99% of people who legally purchase firearms are not violent criminals
Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
yea which is why in countries with sensible and rational firearms policy - people cant carry concealed weapons and/or buy handguns from churches or whatever the fuck it is they do there.
the solution isn't a militant left-wing gun-toting revenge but a simple restriction on who can buy guns, or more effectively just a total ban.

Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
what you mean by this is you dont regard yourself as a violent criminal.knell wrote:agreed, but i will say that the 99.99% of people who legally purchase firearms are not violent criminals
just for the sake of arguing the toss, the rest might not be criminals (in your country) but owning and using a gun makes you amongst the most violent people on the planet.
Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon

that may or may not be him, it's not on his youtube account, it's only a video that he favorited..

also:
you mean to tell me i knew about this before the president of the united states did? wutThe President was notified of this terrible tragedy by John Brennan and Jim Messina a little after 1:20pm Eastern.

Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
definitely. the usa does however have the highest amounts of death by firearms though in the world bar none. something like 12000 deaths per year.knell wrote:agreed, but i will say that the 99.99% of people who legally purchase firearms are not violent criminals
that being said however, i do support the ability to own guns. the only way to prevent fools from doing acts of violence such as this is to dig deeper into the etiology of problems within our society and fixing it there, rather than restricting freedoms even more (im not looking forward to the consequences people living here will most likely have to endure now that this has happened).
actually crime here in phoenix has been reported as somewhere close to the 1950's in violent crime statistics, tuscon has to be even less. It dropped 5% between 2009-2010. My point is that even with such liberal gun laws, crime here is still relatively low. other states such as missouri (st. louis is i think #1 in violent crimes?) or california or georgia or new york have much more restrictive gun laws, which are much more violent than here in arizona. so im not sure if restrictions is the solution.noam wrote:yea which is why in countries with sensible and rational firearms policy - people cant carry concealed weapons and/or buy handguns from churches or whatever the fuck it is they do there.

also if a restriction would be placed on anyone it would start with people of color. another thing, if the guy didnt use a gun he would have made a homemade bomb and threw it at her. if he wanted to kill her he woulda found a way to do it.

Re: Arizona Congresswoman shot in Tuscon
for sure, but what percentage of those deaths were from people with legally owned guns? i'd wager a large sum that most of them are illegal guns, gang violence and whatnot... and in that case, making guns harder to get is equivalent to the govt making drugs harder to get (as in, a complete failure)esfandyar wrote:definitely. the usa does however have the highest amounts of death by firearms though in the world bar none. something like 12000 deaths per year.knell wrote:agreed, but i will say that the 99.99% of people who legally purchase firearms are not violent criminals
