SECRET NINJA MAGAZINE

Post by hayze99 » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:25 pm

So, leading on from the massive success that has come from the SNH BLOG thread that Snypa started, I reckon we've got what it takes to start a free online magazine, PDF/Ebook,Integrated webzine, etc. We've already got quite a bit of content from our blogs, have a big supply of talent from everyone on here, and a big audience to give it to. Might be better to go full blast once the exam period's over and the summer starts, but good to start early.
Could be jumping the gun here, but it could lead to something great.

I've got a bit of experience designing editorials for magazines, and would be willing to put in quite a bit of effort into helping organise. Reckon we've all got the drive on here to make something wicked; It's not like we've got anything to lose.

I've also got some free hosting space lying about.

The Concept
24 page a5 magazine showcasing the latest in bass music and production, especially stuff that's linked to the DSF community, so can make something that not only the whole of DSF will enjoy reading, but that'll get our thoughts and ideas out to an even wider audience. All done on the web (for now at least).

yeah but surely in this, alot of us would want intergrated music within the webzine? can adobe even intergrate a music player?

none the less, this is a cool idea :)

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

The best laid schemes of mice and men go oft awry!

G'luck with it all the same. Can't really see it working unless you do it as a standalone site...

That's a bit pessimistic.

The point is that we've got a perfect opportunity here. As I said, massive network, massive audience, big stock of talent. Hell, we've got an artwork thread with a thousand pages and a whole database of interviews. Half the job is just asking permission and giving credit when it's due. Giants have been built on far less.

Five of us writing 1 good, quality article each will net us 10 pages. 2 more picture based editorials, 4 more pages. 5 pages of artwork from the artwork thread. 4 pages of interviews from the database. And that's already a 24 page magazine. Easy to do over a couple of months.
That's

10 pages - articles
4 pages - editorials
5 pages - interviews
5 pages - artwork

24 pages.

All it takes is a little bit of time from a bunch of us.

Everyone who's volunteered so far, I'll put in the main post, just so we know what's going on.

Obviously right now it's just a dream but that's how everything starts.

Even if you do write an article/do some graphics and it doesn't pan out, what's the worst that happens? You've done something creative, you can put it on your blog.
