scuba is a misogynist - he has no girls on hotflush - but for one throwaway comment and he gets nailed by some berk.
tbf the whole article goes a bit over the top - also waffles on for far too long sounding like a 'dance music educataion' repost.
some good points though (ie. 'bassmusic' is the new fidget - the sound of the generic)

Not equal through no fault of their own, but the ones that wanna eat at the exec table as opposed to helping in the removing of the table annoy the fuck out of me, you know the type...power dressing in the fast lane. Deffo need more women in proper music though, I find a woman's creative output to be more intriguing than most mens.

Re: WHO HERE THINKS WOMEN ARE EQUAL?
good article, but its not 1990 anymore... 'raving' is not counter-culture or especially underground, and people dont write club orientated music with an inherent message of political, social and gender egalitarianism in mind, also the context of the quote used by Scuba is kind o important but it does make him looke like a tosser
check out the flyers for old raves, specially old jungle/hardcore raves - old-skool-graffiti inspired 'nubian-queen's' with bubble butts and big tatas dressed in cannabis-leaf bikini's... tell me thats not the same thing though?? same with ...rave dancers they used to put in cages and on stages, BEN UFO was too young to know, as was i tbf, but i think he's defo got a touch of the rose-tinted-glasses disease
still, article is on-point about the Vice thing, but the Vice thing is styled by the reporters themselves to some extent, they pick people who conform to their style, but obviously there's an element of copy-catting when it comes to trying to get work with them, i know a chick who takes photo's for em and she's puttin up topless photo's of herself on facebook all the time

Theres is a lot of romanticizing about music people were too young to be involved with going on recently, especially rave culture.noam wrote:he's defo got a touch of the rose-tinted-glasses disease

i don't think there's any malicious misogyny going on here. just people who think acting a certain way will make them look cool... shortsighted and immature, that's all. there's probably about as much misogyny in edm culture as there is in the general culture as a whole, if not less.
and scuba's comment on SOMEONE ELSE'S COMMENT was a bit weird. though true in a way, there's definitely hardcore feminists out there who love to tell other women what they should do about their sexuality, their lifestyle, their amount of time spent in kitchen versus the amount of time spent at le tigre concerts... etc etc

I don't think there is really sexism- labels/clubs make quite a big show of it when there are female DJs/producers- it 'd be easy enough to keep under wraps for producers. If anything its the reverse sexism that gives female artists a bad name- been to a few 'all female DJ' nights where most of them have trouble even beatmatching but get the gig on the merit of being female.
There just aren't as many women as heavily into making decent underground dance music, in the same way that there are less women as engineers or physisists- I don't think its because universities and jobs would turn them away for being female, its because less want to persue those things.....but perhpas thats down to upbringing and deeper rooted sexism in society?
