Now AK1200 goes in and speaks his mind

Post by wormcode » Sun Jul 08, 2012 6:40 am

Far too long to copy/paste:
Makes some good points.
Also thanks to this, I am now aware one of those Kardashian people is trying to do a DJ tour?...

http://genuineindividual.com/2012/07/so ... interview/

And its these asshole superstar dj’s like afrojack and david guetta and swedish house mafia or whoever else that piss all over their fans from the main stage, who turn this scene into a big joke and all the fans are just “their” flock of sheep who will follow them and love everything they do and you can literally watch them see how far they can go and still get away with it.

Steve Aoki throws cake at his fans and they love it? now people behind Paris Hilton can literally stage a whole set for her, and she can now be a dj who charges ridiculous money and wastes precious stage time that a real DJ should be on. how far is this shit gonna go before the jig is up?

He posted some responses to reactions over @ doa:
And a free tune and mix download at the soundcloud he linked.

(FYI Tube Jerk is one of Mistabishi's aliases)
AK1200 wrote:well its nice to see some things never change. big up losingrockusa glad you liked the interview.

just to clarify, I didnt go out and rant out of the blue. this was an interview. i was asked a series of questions and I answered them. the answers I gave were my opinion. like them or dont like them, simple.

If all you got from that was another old dj moaning, than I truly feel sorry for you and your tiny little narrow view on this scene, maybe the problem is in your mirror. what I do and what I say have ALWAYS been in the name of supporting dnb all dnb. the good, the bad, and the fucking ugly. my criticisms were targeting fans of main stage pop cheese and their clown crew of superstars. somehow a couple of you managed to twist that into something else, but isnt that what message boards are for?

Tube Jerk.... if all you think of DnB is that its all disposable half ass music, then you should go fucking jump off a cliff cos nobody needs a person like you in a scene that has so many passionate soldiers fighting daily just to keep it alive. the best thing about jungle and dnb music was its fucking integrity and how proud the fans were to be part of something so special. you go make tunes and throw em away, the rest of us will continue to try and create something of meaning.

actually i am not even gonna go on, you guys fucking sucked me right back into this sewer, no way i am giving you anymore of my time. thanks to all that support, and middle finger to the few here who still just troll to feel like they matter.

oh and long live the boogie times crew!

1 more thing, i honestly do not think anyone ever pre pitches anything man, that seems like a fucking hassle with the number of tunes that come in daily, everything is within 10 bpm anyway, not difficult to line up. certainly isnt rocket science.

big up dnb massive trying to keep pushing on.

btw, you can hear the tunes i have been making on our soundcloud

this is becoming a stronger and stronger sentiment, and more "real" DJs are finally starting to speak their mind about it. this whole pop culture super stardom of "DJs" like guetta, lmfao, and now paris fucking hilton needs to end. hopefully there's some awareness and resistance building up

feel ya. i think the term EDM should continue and take this kind of "electronic music" such as johnathan davis, guetta, avicii, lmfao, etc like you were saying phig and segregate it from the rest of the genre of electronic music. or call it trash and be done with it. seriously giving it the name trash would be appropriate.

Seen him several times, guy has played quite a few house parties around Austin. Really great guy and always puts on a good show. Love his mixing style too, keeping all faders up. I hope I have the balls to do that someday lol. I wish the Planet of the Drums would tour again, seeing him battle Dara live was always great.

So he uses the cross fader instead of the channel faders? Isn't that like how it was designed to be used?

im guessing he keeps the crossfader in the middle to start a mix otherwise what he said makes no sense

anyway, i don't think that DJing is, like, special. all this shit people are talking about already happens in the rest of pop music. autotune, manufactured bands, manufactured music (and it has happened for a pretty long time)

paris hilton isn't really a DJ, but then she wasn't really a singer either (remember that?). she didn't ACTUALLY design her perfume line and she had next to fuck all to do with designing her clothing line either.

i dont think anyone seriously believes these people are DJs or artists in a meaningful sense, but i get the feeling that some people are somehow shocked that what they do is as open to being bastardised and taken the piss out of as any other part of music? i mean can you imagine being a singer and seeing half of these goons make millions out of miming?

She was the one in the video though.

I kind of know what he means though, I do the something similar since I read what Oneman does. It makes it easier to drop rallies on grime mixes. You keep the fader down until you drop the first beat, then you put it straight in and error correct on the fly using pitch control.

The point in keeping the fader down initially is cos your using vinyl. If you're using cds you don't have to worry about the thus thud thud of queuing up so you could essentially just keep all faders on full all the time. Esp as CD's show you vague bpm values too.
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

Dave is a world class DJ period. Anything he says about the act of DJing is usually 110% on point.

Prepare for Assault is still one of my fav back in the day mixes
