Ableton Sidechaining Issue

Post by shahbazi » Sun Nov 22, 2009 7:56 pm

Hi there, im new to sidechaining so sorry if i explain this badly. I want to sidechain my bassline to my kick drum, so my bassline pulsates (compressed during each kick). The problem is i use a drum rack, and i dont want to sidechain to my whole drums, i want to sidechain to just the kick. How can i select jsut the kick in ableton, and only make the sidechaining react to the kick, and not all the other drum parts. Thanks

(Using ableton live 8)

I think iv found the solution, but can anybody confirm it. In the compressor, under sidechaining, iv selected the drum rack, then in the box underneath, iv selected the kick drum. Is the the proper way?
