Are these tutorials legit?

I like them, he talks about headroom in the digital domain, identifies the import elements in the song, and mixes from silence up.
One thing I don't get, is that he talks about mixing up to -6db, then goes and makes his kick hit -6db, which effectively means anything else he adds to it that plays at the same time as the kick will already blow his imagined -6db ceiling.
On the other hand the track sounds good, he's using professional plugins, and his voice is like butter.
Is this logic? It's very pretty.

Shows how little I care for other DAWs. I have protools, it came included in my tuition and I still use FL studio. I was born into audio with it and now every other DAw looks alien.

What the....
This just reminded me that I own a copy of cubase 6. I got it at some music store liquidation sale for super cheap and I think I stopped using it because it crashed plenty and there were no youtube videos whatsoever.
How did I forget that? I fucking love the reverb that comes with it, I haven't used anything that I think sounds better.
Fuck... hopefully I can find the disk and the dongle!

I know how you feel, I've tried a few DAWs and FL's layout just seems to fit me best, I love how intuitive it is.Triphosphate wrote:Shows how little I care for other DAWs.
