Requesting Samples

Post by k00sh » Sun May 02, 2010 4:38 pm

hey, i feel i've used the samples i've got as much as i possibly can and really need some new samples...
the ones i've got are alright sounding but i could really use some new snare and bass samples, straight forward but good sounding, if ya get me
ive got loads of bass that have click for some reason and some fake sounding snares

i normally use sampleswap and looperman but they haven't been any use

Your samples don't necessarily have to be from a 'Dubstep pack' as are usually just taken from electronic/garage/reggae packs. Although i recommend you check out some of Primeloops packs. They're pretty good, i usually have a few of their samples in each off my tracks. Otherwise just do a google search for 'free sample packs', theres plenty out there

oh yeah bro i know,
i have a funk sample pack and stuff, just i have some that i started with and they just dont sound nice to begin with..
wondered if anybody has any direct links to some great ones! haha

edit:
ive tried all combinations of dubstep/reggae/drum n bass and also none of those combined with "drum" "sample" and "packs" and nothing useful...

yo koosh :) hope your well dude ;)

you should dig for samples to ensure originality

if everyone had the same samples as each other ... tunes would be boring

plus when you find a wicked sample you'll appreciate it x10

Find a few songs which start with a drum loop or feature drums playing in isolation and sample them. Much more fun and you don't feel as dirty.

Check freesound.org and troll the net. Also sampling older songs is kool (its a bit harder work - and you may need to cut out some freq - but results are sweet). Good luck cuz - keep sampling!!! Z.

there are probably millions :)

a few searches you could try are ...

Percussion
Drum samples
Snare samples
Hi hat samples
Sample pack
Sample compilation
Samples
Free sounds etc

if your looking for obscure vocals ... i use you tube alot ... on the odd occasion you'll come across usable samples ie no bg noise / music and is good enough to sample

try ...

music interview
music documentary
science documentary
etc etc

there are odd words and phrases in most things you could use in a tune .... when you find a gem it makes it all worth it :)
