you know you can now sidechain "to track" directly in FL9 and use the FL native limiter for this? It sounds better than using Peak Controller (which is essentialy just gating...)

If I used sidechaining or FL9 Im sure that would be amazing.

I'm not a techical guy so can't give you right explanation, but I think the term when using gate is sidechain gating, and when using compression, it's sidechain compression
I think when using compression, the results (ducking, "pumping") are much smoother than when using gate...
The pumping thing though how is that any different then linking compressor to peak?
Either way your going to have a ducking element, controlled by a normal element, with variable decay, and thats gonna make it sound like its 'pumping' as you say.

Like I said, i'm not a tech guy, but I clearly can hear the difference when using peak controller over compression...
Maybe someone with better knowledge can explain...
there's also a cheaper one called Sidekick, it's in version 4 now but it was free up until version 3...so if you can find an old version of it, it should work.
personally i just use the native compressors in Reason / Cubase
Basic A wrote:What are you mapping to peak if you dont mind me asking?
I don't use sidechaing that often... but when I used, it was pretty much standard... peak controller to kick drum channel and assigned the peak to the fader of the pads channel... and then played with the peak controller settings...
Also egoless, can you explain the method of sidechaining you were talking about, Im gonna get on 9 if I can ever find license info, doubt I will though after a year of searching I was so desperate to get back in FL from renoize I *censored because I cant say this its against forum rules* the software haha.... But, since update, I really wanna find my old license so I can get back on the upgrade circuit...
Explain whats new for me here.
Oh and you were posting that while I was typing, link peak to compressor... THEN same thing basically, isnt it?

I would suggest getting to grips with the way the peak controller works. It is indistinguishable from what you think of as side chain compression. But I won't suggest it, because you have a way of working that works.

They have your license. Just contact them. I left for a long time, forgot my shit, hit them up, and wammo great new product that I didn't have to pay for.

I'm sure you've tried it already, but if you ever registered FL, they should have your license info on the ImageLine website. At least that's how it is for Slicex VST.
