Sidechain Compression Tutorial with REnoise 1.8 - 2.0

Post by Moxxiedubstep » Thu May 20, 2010 8:56 am

So ive noticed ALOT of other forums saying they hate how you cant sidechain in early releases of REnoise. Well, the funny thing is you can.

Buy or download a program called Sidekick4 by Twisted Lemon - make sure its the "4" - .

Setup a test project within REnoise, simple drum loop on one track and your bass vst on a second track.

Now load Sidekick4 into your drum track and on the Sidekick4 settings ,change the send bus number to "2" .
Turn the Drive to almost if not all the way up.

Do the same for your bass track but have the settings as:

Send bus - Off
Receive bus - label it as Bus 2
Gain @ 3.00db
Threshold @ -50.00db
Ratio @ 1.50
Have the Settings @ Ducking and
Adjust the release so that the volume raise perfectly as the drum kick is ending.

Now, play the set and play you bass vst. Should be getting a nice pump :). Hope this will help alot of people out there.
any questions ask.
