Headphones
At the moment I use AKG K77's for my audio. I would like a new set of headphones. I would like some relatively cheap ones but that still have an element of comfort and style to them. I've trawled forums and online stores, but still need some help deciding which ones to get. As I specialise in producing dubstep, I thought here would be a good place to start.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Headphones
Not sure what you mean but relatively cheap but i've had some Audio Technica ath-m50's for a while and i think they're great. They go for around £100 and they're pretty comfortable.
Re: Headphones
By relatively cheap I meant under £60. My AKG's were about £20
Re: Headphones
So it's relatively expensive
Anyway is there a certain thing your AKG's lack that you would
like to improve? Like bass response or whatever.

Re: Headphones
The sub range. The AKG has good clarity and the sub bass is okay, but it is still quite weak.AxeD wrote:So it's relatively expensiveAnyway is there a certain thing your AKG's lack that you would

and get HD 25's IIdeadly habit wrote:save up more money
Re: Headphones
People say the most neutral headphones you can buy are the open back AKG 701's and 702's which are the same headphones just with different colors. People also say that the open back Sennheiser HD600's are neutral which i have but they don't have as good of soundstage and aren't as neutral as the k702/01's. You may need an amp for these though, since you said you were looking for something cheap these may not be for you. The M-50's do have a great sound to them for the cost but they don't have near the clarity or neutrality as the 702's and hd600. You could get the m-50's but make sure you have something more neutral that you can listen to your tunes on.
One last thing if you are just looking for some extremely "fun" headphones then get the Denon AHD-2000's I'm planning on purchasing some soon and reviews on them say they are extremely fun to listen to and best of all you don't need an amp to power them. They have superb bass and mids for their price. It sounds like this is something you're looking for considering you said you don't like the sound of the other akg's. So i'd say M50's or the AHD-2000's for you and maybe even the sennheiser hd280 pro's. The big thing you need to know though about purchasing headphones everyone has different tastes. Look around your area and see if anyone allows demoing of their headphones. It helps out a lot.

Re: Headphones
I've had these MDR-V700's for a month or so now, got them for £50 with part ex on my last pair which is quite nice as they retail for £80-90. Not sure if they are still doing this but you could always ask. In terms of comfort they arent the best after a couple of hours of wear imo. The sound quality with these is great though, i'd recommend to anyone. The stats are similar to the HD-25's so they're worth checking out. Providing they are still doing the part ex deal, they should be within your price range too. Hope this helps

Re: Headphones
there's a simple rule of thumb when it comes to purchases:
1. good sound
2. good build
3. good price
you can only get 2 of the 3

Re: Headphones
If those are too expensive then just buy the M-50's or the 280 pro's honestly they are the best choices from what I have read on head-fi.org for cheap, good sounding cans. Anything below 75 USD is not going to sound very good. Just save your money. It is totally worth the wait. 110 dollars actually is pretty cheap for what you're getting, all of those hours spent using them.. its worth it trust me.4Trak wrote: I did, but some of them were quite pricey. :s I really wanted some that were cheap with good bass response

Re: Headphones
Yeah no WAY! Those are just like Bose, overpriced sound. They wont sound much better than some walkman headphones. if have to have something in that price range i would suggest something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/SHURE-SRH440/dp ... 119&sr=1-14Trak wrote:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Skullcandy-S6SK ... 670&sr=1-5

But the leap in price from those to these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica- ... 366&sr=1-1 is like 2 leaps in quality.
Also wait a couple of days amazon likes to drop their prices and raise them, so if you see something a little higher than normal like the m50's are now, just wait a few days. you will know if the price is about to change when it says (X) left in stock. When I was shopping for my hd600's one day they were at 340 USD the next day it was at 308 i got the last one of those in stock and then 5 minutes later it went up to 380 USD. You just gata watch the price.
