Post Your Favourite Freeware VST and AU plugins

Post by Wikum » Wed Aug 25, 2010 1:50 am

Sorry if there is already a thread covering this. At the moment the advanced search isn't working so I can't check for myself.

Anyways, there are some really useful freeware plugins out there. I wanted to share this plugin with the forum because it really is amazing (IF YOU ARE GOING TO ADD THINGS TO THIS THREAD PLEASE TYPE IN BOLD WHETHER THE SAID PLUGIN IS A VST/AU/RTAS ECT...THANKS)

So anyways I found this set of freeware plugins. Really amazing stuff:

Soundmagic Spectral 5 (AUDIO UNIT UNIVERSAL BINERY)
download here : http://www.michaelnorris.info/soundmagi ... index.html
there's actually 23 plugins in this pack.

see 1 of them here. this is "Spectral DroneMaker":

Hope someone finds some good use for these. Please add to the thread too (Specifically AU plugins for me lol  )

VertexDSP - MultiInspectorFree (VST, AU)
download here

I developed MultiInspectorFree for long studio-sessions to assist your ears. MultiInspectorFree visualizes up to 4 different audio signals in real time in one window (for up to 16 audio signals see MultiInspector) and helps you to detect overlapping frequencies in your mix.

MultiInspectorFree is a 31 band spectral analyzer with multitrack functionality. It incorporates a standard third octave frequency analyzer. Center frequencies of the bands are based on the ISO 266:1997 standard (20 Hz to 20 kHz). Pink noise will appear flat in the frequency spectrum. MultiInspectorFree supports up to 4 instances at a sample rate of 44.1 kHz.

handy tool for seeing where different elements may be clashing

s(M)exoscope (VST, AU)
download here

s(M)exoscope is an oscilloscope VST plugin. You can use it to visually monitor audio wave forms.
Why would you do this? Well, why not? There are countless times when being able to see what your audio waveform looks like could be useful. You'll know when the time is right. For all those other times, well, it's very pretty to look at!

how does i sound like producer x? well with this combo you can breakdown whats going on with that sound you dig if you have the patience

Poor Plate (Reverb) VST by Vacuumsound
nice little verb when used in moderation.

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious shit.

deadly, it sounds like that multiinspector would be perfect for comparing mixes of finished tracks too

dude thats funny, I pirated some big name verb unit which will not be named, speant ages trying to wrap my brain round it, finally ditched it and just used reeverb and have ever since... wasnt a remarkable switch then, but these days i get asked what verb im using, so, yeah, they did something right in that reeverb unit, love it.

Im starting to lust for an impulse response unit though, the more i get into ambient sound design. :? broke though, and have grown past the pirate-that-shit stage.
