Hottttt track nonXero. This is sooooo well mastered!! I kinda agree with Eridu, the sounds are all bloody cool but they're a bit hapazardly arranged.
I'll give a stack of feedback when we get some more posts, but for now...

Soundcloud

Please please please give me some feedback on my actual soundcloud, that'd be sooo apreciated.
Also, skip though the track a bit because there's some Drumsteppy/Quarter timey business going on, it's not the same all the way through.

Thanks.

Should maybe edit your first post to include the usual standard rules for WIP threads

nonXero - Not feeling it tbh, it does sound very random. i like the patch at about 3.18, the kind of bass synth. infact theres quite a few sounds in the song i like.

Danny Dubstep - like the drop. like the wobbles at first, then they sort of go off on a tangent abit too much. could do with some sub bass too!

Filthy - Wobbles sound abit flat and muffled if ye get me? would sound good with abit more work. maybe some subtle distortion aswell?

Now im gonna post mine, something abit different. i have worked on it abit more since this, stopped the subbass resonating and re arrainged it abit, but the basic sounds are still the same

let me know what you think:

@ NonXero- The stabbing/stereo stuff is quite cool. Feels a bit stop/start as an arrangement- those crash cymbals don't help this track I don't think. The wobbly parts need to gel with the synth parts a bit better I'd say. Levels feel like they're a bit all over the place in general.

@ Dannydubstep- not really my bag but seems pretty well produced. There could be a bit more going on percussion wise but that's just me. The switch-up is a bit odd but works when it fully changes. Headphones aren't good enough to comment on sub but is there any there?

Soundcloud
Not really in the same vein as the tracks so far, sounding a bit quiet and squashed by soundcloud but there you go.

I'm wondering are there posters that regularly bounce tracks off each other, via pm or whatever, to get some more thoughtful feedback? Is this allowed? I'd be happy to spend a bit more time listening over a track if I know it's being reciprocated, but I don't know who the like-minded producers here might be. Not trying to be a dick just not much a success rate with comments here.

@ Snick- really like the intro, the instrumentation particularly but it loses momentum a bit at points where the strings drop out. I don't know if the aggressive snare works, I thought it was going to go mental brostep for a minute there. Personally I'd try and make more of those intro themes, it's the strongest most cohesive part of the song for me

Accidentally posted in december thread...

@alexvont12: I like the idea, it makes me think of an alien invasion, perhaps add some more effects and sirens to compliment the main ones and maybe some 50's sci-fi movie samples ;)

@nnny: (WIP-3) Nice and floaty this one, the first synth is a little too high pitched for my liking. I would add some more layers to the kick and side chain compress it to the sub so that it cuts through nicely but you still get that roll.

@darkdubz: Really nice work with the intro, not really my thing after the drop but everything seems to sit together nicely.

Edit: @ Mr Hello, had to edit and post m8 really loving this, beautiful tune, a real dreamer. I cant even think of anything to suggest. nice one.

what I have been working on this new years day..
Its kind of different but I think it has a nice groove.

Thx and happy new year ;)

Cheers for the feedback Mr Hello, i know what you mean about the snare, i tried making it less aggressive but it diddnt seem to fit either haha, might just fuck a snare/clap off completely, that may be abit different lol. The structures changed in this other version im working on, the songs shorter, and changes up more often, ill upload at a later date. Liking your track though! very chilled, as ibscotty said, dont know what to suggest!

I like the first part up to the first breakdown. Really well produced. The breakdown kinda killed it a little for me and the track is pretty long. Other than that, pretty good! :4:

Sqwuabblesmynig-Loving the walk hard samples man, quality film that. The build up for me is a bit long, but its just personal taste tbh. Top notch wobbles there man, slightly old ruskoish vibe about em , really nice.
snick01- Brilliant production mate, mixdown is on point there, maybe the kick could be a tiny bit stronger but thats just me being picky tbh. Great job on making it 7 minutes long but keeping me interested all the way through man. could maybe do with a bit more drum variation but again thats just pickiness.
ibscotty- nice chilled out vibe on this, its decent pal, just a tad samey for me but you might be planning to add more progressions so yano take this with a pinch of salt. on the whole the mixdowns decent too. nice job man.

@ Cheeky: like the idea behind it. samples in the background throughout is nice. that synth at :28 tho :( hurts my ears and not in a good way i think it might be too loud? or could be my headphones. 1:50 on was actually REALLY good tho. easy on the ears and definitely feeling that sub.

@ sqwuabbles: first off, i fucking love that wobble synth you got. also digging the samples. not entirely sure whats with the printer machine noise tho kinda feels out of place?

@ snick01: good percussion altho the snare sounds a lil distorted, maybe you did that on purpose tho cuz it kinda works. id suggest changing up the notes a little more often. i almost feel like you should have someone singing over it too :o

took this track down i should really stop uploading all the garbage i make at 4 AM

@snick01 love the strings intro is awesome. a little too aggressive on the snare eas it up a bit. i also feel there should be a few more change ups in the drums. imo, from .54-3.33 could be shorter, if you changed it up and added more id then it would be fine. it needs more power behind that part. i hate to be a real picky one on this its not a bad tune at all just some minor tuning up and yeah other than that damn good job really.

@sqwuabblesmynig the build up is fine. over all idea is good, nice snyths.. you have "robotic" sounding snyths later in the song which imo should be all throughout the song. 1:17 sound im not really feeling it maybe chop it up a little make some small changes to it just all in all spice it up.

@Cheeky nice samples, snyth at .28 yeah little loud/high lower that a bit. neat break going on. i like the who lofi feel to it..keep at it good idea going.

@nylle diggn the atmosphere of the intro some reason reminds me a little of some floyd, nice snyths the one that comes in and out did you mean to increase the volume on it? scared the shit out of me "might have to turn your volume up on it" ...nice trick :P ha ..no good start for just cooking it up because you cant sleep, id do some work on that snare imo it is distracting and just add a few little change ups here and there..

Ive been working on this for a while but took a break from making tunes due to massive writers block just had to relax over the holidays. i cut it short because im just stuck after that break so its just looped...i also felt my intro wasnt as good i feel the break is better as far as the piano goes. well ill just let you guys have it..

@ Kidstrange- Snare/clap might be a bit overpowering. The main synth and the sub could gel together a bit more, the sub is really low I think and the synth doesn't have much low end at all.

@ Nylle- intro is wicked. All the elements seem to fit. Drop works, got a Distance feeling it to it, good work. Or Benga- the cut, even.

@ Cheeky- the sounds in the intro work, but that melody is a bit tired. Don't feel that drop at all sorry. Just don't see the appeal of those synth lines.

@ Sqwuabble- similar to cheeky I'm afraid. Film/TV samples used like that just seem so hacky now, sorry.

@ Ibscotty- really like the ideas, the main melody feels like it needs a counter or another layer coming in (I can hear the chords in my head by no idea what they are.) The drums aren't bad but don't add a whole lot. Everything could be a bit punchier but obviously this track isn't a 'banger.' Definitely something to keep going with.

Last two works in progress I've posted

Cheers for the feedback everyone. Think i will probably change the snares, i was never 100% on them anyway. As kidstrange said 'from .54-3.33 could be shorter' i made it shorter and it does work better. changed the breakdown abit too, still not happy with it though! anyway, thanks again for the feedback, i appreciate it.

@sqwuabblesmynig - Funny sample man, liking it, liking the mid wobble too, reminds me of someone, cant think of who though. like the mids that kick in at 2.06 too! one think i can point out though, the drums dont cut through the mix enough imo, but really liking the overall tune!

@ Cheeky - Liking the intro, the mids when it kicks in are abit loud i would say, can hardly hear the snare too! just a case of changing the mix abit i reckon. other than that i lke it, i like the vocal sample in it, suits the song.

@Nylle - LOVING the intro, so atmospheric, then the break kicks in, awesome man. liking the drop too, good creepy sounding synth, sounds like a if The Grudge mixed with godzilla haha. not really got anything bad to say about this!

@ Kidstrangs - sub is good on the intro, but when the wobble kicks in, theres not much bass atall! loving the wobbles and stuff. also the haunting tune at 1.20, real effective. i really like the overall feel to this track, please add some more subs to the rest of the track!

@ Mr Hello - in Untitled production sounds really good, i do like this beat in this. plenty of bass too, the song sounds so full. In Beneath, i like the minimalistic intro, works well, the vocal chops sit good too. tbh, i was expecting more when it kicked in really, still sounds good but my ears expected more, atleast a new element to be introduced. but thinking again, it probably woulddnt fit the style of the song.

Hope this helps people!

Im only listening on a crap pair of headphones so sub is lost on me but..

@ mr hello : Listened to beneath. Feeling this one, the percussion works very well imo. The choir-like pad got over used tho playing the same note the entire time. A section with just the drums and vocal samples for a change up would work well.

@ kidstrange : love the hats and all that at the start, really nice creepy vibe to this tune surely this is nearly finished?

@ nylle : the samples work well in the intro, good atmosphere. Not sure what to think of that snare. Seems to work alright, id use it more sparingly tbh, or else it ends up sounding a bit too St Anger

This is my first attempt at dubstep so opinions are welcome
