best audio interface as good as the apogee duet?

Post by sunn-e » Tue Jan 04, 2011 4:38 pm

Hi

Im looking to buy an audio interface and wanted to know which would be the best one to get that is at the same level of quality, converters preamps ect, as the apogee duet, sound quality is a huge thing and is a main priority, the only thing is the interface has to be WINDOWS and not mac like the duet, i have a price limit of £400 tops.

Any advice would be much appreciated. thanks in advance. :)

does roland still make those ulgy e-mu boxes? Those sounded good.

otherwise, native instruments makes great output gear.

I'll second RME, dont know if you'll be able to get a fireface for that price, but its the best sounding interface I've ever heard. The baby face has just come out tho, and thats supposed to have the same ADCs and converters

R u looking for good AD conversion? Good DA conversion? Both or Good preamps?????

those are different and discrete parts of an interface that will make a difference...

im in the same choosing process and ive read for hours and hours about interfaces.... ive been told the echo audiofire is stupidly low priced in comparison with the others and has comparable converters... however it seems that its windows drivers are not so great... this being said, Echo apparently provides great costumer support..

my friend runs a professional studio and has an rme ff... it looks and sounds gorgeous.. but is a proper pocket emptier.

im slowly thinking about buying an Okay interface ... but invest in very good converters to put in front of it... would it be a good idea ( :bobafett: thread jackin)
