Re: Skrillex Interview (Computer Music)
Nice to know he uses Operator and Massive, my arsenal.
Re: Skrillex Interview (Computer Music)
Although it's a short interview, fair play to him. Answers the questions well, comes across well, is honest about what he does and how he does it.

I'm glad he hasn't changed much from when I got to chat with him back in '07 & '08!
He really is a nice guy & deserves all his success

Re: Skrillex Interview (Computer Music)
That was cool. Would have been savage if they did a video interview with him like Reso or something.

Re: Skrillex Interview (Computer Music)
There was also an interview with him in beat(i think that's what it was). It covered Electric Daisy Carnival, and had a much more in depth interview with skrillex. Noone else even really got more than a passing mention, except Tiesto and Diplo.

I do not completely agree, although he might be a nice guy the music does not deserve all the attention in my opinion.Gurnumsbug wrote:I'm glad he hasn't changed much from when I got to chat with him back in '07 & '08!

Re: Skrillex Interview (Computer Music)
lost me at the last question, this is exactly what i dislike about his music. Of course his music doesnt gain that much from mastering, im sure hes never made a clean uncompressed dynamic subtle mix, a smashed out loud as fuck mix wont sound much different after mastering, but uncompress some of those tracks give the ME a cleaner quiter mix and listen to how much more amazing your song sounds after. it comes down to the type of music he makes though his tracks are powerful, mixwise premaster, so he would never really need the magic that can be acheived by good mastering on a more traditional mix.

I don't dig his music. But fair play on this interview, relatively interesting.
Only thing I'd fault is the last question. "I think mastering is something that's given too much credit."
Fuck off, proper mastering takes real skill and talent. It's an art in itself.

I heard over some kid smoking outside of a club saying to his mate "yeah the master they gave me back was so quiet so I just loaded up Audacity > Hard Limiter > -8db then compressed it back up to 0db and they loved it and released it."ekidd91 wrote:I don't dig his music. Mastering is a dying art.
