I have solved the analogue vs digital debate.. and many more

Post by 3za » Sun Jun 10, 2012 9:30 pm

If your fav productions use analogue only, then analogue FTW.
If your fav productions use digital only, then digital FTW.
If your fav productions use a mixture, then both FTW.

Very enlightening.

I have always used both. And I love my analogue synths, those moody flurking bastages...

If your fav producers use Mac, then Mac FTW.

Any given decision itself is going to make a bigger difference in many cases than whether A or D.
In saying that sometimes A is better than D and sometimes D is better than A.

And everything depends on what you can hear coming out of your speakers, monitoring is not all built equally.

Well, if I just decided to buy a reel to reel because ____ producer uses tape, I know I would run into problems because I don't know how to work with tape. Even after learning and spending time with it, I don't know if I would be satisfied with it or meet my goals. I'm sure there's people who are more fluent with tape than digital and would feel the same way working in a daw.

And which is better, analog or analogue? ;-)

There is no grey/gray area when it comes to analog/analogue ...clearly it sucks because you can't download a cracked version!

I like practicing with both because I come from Planet Earth and try to employ a wide range of vernacular, colloquialisms and linguistics.

I can't wait until we have some hybrid patois like in Blade Runner.

Up next; Turntables vs CDJ's vs Laptops/controllers and the fact that you aren't a real DJ if you use Ableton and an APC...

Stay tuned.

what if my fav. producer uses all analog gear that i couldn't make a beat on to save my life... then they record it to tape with a machine i don't know how to use... then they sequence and mix on a PC, but i hate PCs?

tl;dr there's neither advice nor a solution to anything in this thread

Thank you for your opinions, but these have now been sovled, and are now no longer up for debate ;-)

If that the assumption you made, then I can assume that you mostly like digital only productions, even though you still think analogue is superior. I can also assume that you mostly listen to music from the 80's onwards, with the bulk of it being from the last decade

Am I right? ;-)

Now naysayer i'm going to prove to you that we have solved these debates.

Mt Eden Vs Digital Mystikz:

If your fav production duo is Mt Eden, then Mt Eden FTW.
If your fav production duo is Digital Mystikz, then Digital Mystikz FTW.
If your fav production duo is not them, then not them FTW.

How can you argue that?
