Sound emulation game

Post by NinjaEdit » Tue Sep 11, 2012 1:35 pm

Emulate the last suggested sound using a synthesiser. Upload it and choose a new sound for the next person to emulate. Optionally describe how you created the sound.

The first sound to emulate is a snare drum.

I think it would be fun to have these be downloadable, and release a compiled sample pack at some point.

Cool thread idea, I might have a shot at a synth snare drum when I get home.

My very quick attempt at a snare: http://www.sendspace.com/file/buhvkc

It's not a very convincing real life sound but I quite like it :) I'm sure other people could do it much more convincingly, I normally synthesize my kicks but not really tried snares very much!

Now let's see someone do a piano note... I think it'd be very difficult, but let's see what people can do!

I used Absynth and Ozone. The main thing was getting the descending envelope.

The next sample will be a kick drum.

^Pretty decent

Made quickly in audacity through laptop speakers...don't expect much.

Next sound: Cell-phone vibration sound.
...in my opinion

Thank you. :n:

Here's my vibrator. http://www.mediafire.com/?7vmaunshn367a68
Made with some FM synthesis. The notes are in the subbass range.

Next sound: Chain saw.

These are pretty impressive :h:

@JR, I seem to remember you being pretty handy at synthesizing a snare, unless I'm completely mistaken and thinking of someone else, which is likely haha

awaiting the next request, your move 1point5

EDIT: that was actually pretty good 1point5! it actually sounded like a engine speeding up, and the chainsaw shutting off was like spot on lol.

only think missing was the rough idling, which would be pretty tricky to emulate

oops, my bad

next sound is vinyl crackle/noise - a few seconds of it with a few pops, maybe even a needle drop at the start?

I've heard it done before so it is possible! :)
