Modifying the ill.gates apc40 template. How to do it?

Post by bowserlm » Mon Nov 19, 2012 1:18 am

I was hoping to add Turnado as a separate bank that I could control using the 8 Device Control Encoders if I click over to a separate bank with the arrows. Leaving the rest of the ill.Gates Template as is.

Currently, the default ill.Gates apc40 template has the arrows disabled and everything is tied together with midi mapping.

I looked at the APC40 map on the AKAI site here -- http://www.akaipro.com/apc40map to try and see which midi controllers were tied to which APC40 buttons and knobs. I see that the Device Controller Encoders are set to C16-C23 which are obviously already mapped using the ill.Gates template.

I was wondering how I would go about being able to switch to a new bank so it's sending different CC data when it's on that "page".

Any ideas?

Also, if there is a better way I could go about building this, I'd love to hear any clever suggestions. My ultimate goal is just to have an APC40 only setup that I can DJ with but also have a good amount of fun, live playability using various FX and extra bits and bobs that I'll be able to fire off.

Thanks!

I've gone down a research rabbit hole and have come across all kinds of things like Bome's Midi Translator, MidiOx, MidiPipe, Midistroke and various other midi remapping utilities. I was wondering if all of that is necessary to do what I want to do, or if there is a better and simpler way to go about setting it up.

I figured that the ill.Gates template would be pretty commonly used from what I hear, and that making modifications and additions would be pretty straight forward, but I can't seem to find any resources for this specifically.

Thanks for any help or direction!

Thanks!
