Hi,

Im stuck at finding out how these bassline goes in Massive. I've been trying this for the past 3 weeks since i finished my first tune..I can get the wobble with them LFO's. But in the following tunes it wobble's but different then mine.
I really don't know how to explain this in english. It sounds like the wobble doesnt go "down" idk man lol..
Can someone explain me how to make these kinds of wobble's? Maybe with a preset? Im not interested how it sounds it's only that type of wobble.

Sharp delay or tight reverb can help with the metallic sound.
You're not going to get that striaght out of Massive just fyi, so a preset isn't going to help you.

I feel like heard this style of lead in a lot of darker dubstep. Its the one in the beginning playing the 3 notes repeatedly. Any ideas? thanks.

Does anyone know how to make the classic dubstep sounding formant-y screachy bass in this song, its the lead synth in the drop:
If you don't know which one I'm talking about its the sound in at 1:49

Any help would be awesome, I use FL +Massive +FM8.

The 'Stabs' or 'Horns' throughout with song with the reggae vibe to them

I could probably get these in a sample pack but have no clue what they are properly known as I hear them all the time in tunes.

Cheers

Were you suggesting to try making this sound using massive? I have osc 1 and 2 both being sine waves, 1 is pitched up 24 semitones, the other -24 semitones. A p and a s sharper in the inserts, and B. Tube as the effect. No filtering, and a sharp env on both of the pitches for each osc going up 12 semitones. But i am not getting anywhere near that lead. :(

If osc 1 is at +12 semeT and 2 is at -24 semiT. And you play the sound in the 4th octave, say d#4 or F4 or something, it has the bass and gritty portion of the lead, but not the top end. Note that osc 1 and 2 are both bend -/+ or +/- whatever order it is.

Lol, just thought about the fact that I posted a thread with a very similar sound a lil while ago.
Here's the patch from the thread

Based on Habstrakt/Jantsen's basses, but super similar to what you want

Oh well glad to see I was on the right path, just needed a scream filter. Well, thank you very much this is more or less what i was looking for. I will do some external processing to make it unique and exactly what I want in the future. I appreciate lots man! :)

Anyone have any tips on making a Joker/Space Laces sort of lead bass (yes I know they're very different)? Sounds like a smooth square out of massive but i'm never sure.

I know thats an odd comparison, but here are some examples
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quyIMf7oXXc
main sound @ 0:55

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h5bPkTYBuA
sound at 1:37 and throughout

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=May5VaSKLvs
@ 2:44

They're all a bit different, but it's that smooth, very flat almost "blocky" and metallic sounding bass.

Does anyone know how to make a generic darkstep wobble? It could anything from a bass wooble to a mid to high range scream/squeal wobble. For example the sound in the video above at 0:56 (it comes directly after the first intro growl bass in the drop) something like that. I'm trying to enter the darkstep genre, and I really like the sounds artist like Rekoil, Exude, TrollPhace, etc, use in their darkstep songs. Any help whatsoever would be awesome. Thanks.

Darkstep Wobbles and Basses?

Post by IamDroid » Sun Dec 09, 2012 5:36 am

Does anyone here make darkstep? I would like to start making it in the future because I love the dark grittyness of the genre. Could you please guide to making a generic darkstep wobble/ mid or high range bass similar to the ones made by Exude, Rekoil, or Trollphace? Here is an example, though it isn't a "wobble" per say. The sound is directly after the growl bass in the drop, so at 0:56
