The 64 Bar Competition, Voting open!

The 64 bar competition.

A weekly event,

Entries are now being taken and posted at the following group:

You will have visibility of all the tracks posted so far; If you plan to enter, please join the group


Voting will be open Monday up until the following Monday.

Monday morning the winner is announced (if there are enough entries we'll have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd); the dropbox is open for entries throughout the week and songs can be posted any time.

When voting opens there are no more entries taken for that week, all following entries will be saved and posted during next weeks competition.

Rules are simple.
1. 64 bars; that's it no more no less.
2. You cant have it posted on your soundcloud.
3. You have to post the BPM with the song.
4. One entry per week; you can change the entry up until the deadline

Since this is going to be a weekly thing there will only be one voting round.
Every man for himself, most votes wins.

This would be a competition though. The WIP thread is more or less to get criticism on unfinished tracks IMO. This would be putting tunes against each other each week.

At the end of the week there is a winner declared and the next day you post the next tracks to be up for vote.

You can enter late if you'd like but obviously you will have more of an advantage getting the tracks in the night before.

I'm just spit balling here, there will be set rules but its just an idea. Maybe have 3 days to send tracks and 4 days to vote. If you miss the entry period we save the track for next week. This stuff can be worked out if there are people willing to enter.

Personally I'd find it fun.

Not a bad turn out so far. Ill start some editing to this thread and see if I can setup a drop box to work with. Next weekend ill start working out the ground rules, process for sending tunes, ect.

If this really gets going I think it would be something to looks forward to every week.

i'm sthinking smth like 64 thematic bars. so you have a point when you judge the tracks like who got closest to the theme. just sayin.
else you would have to vote (analogy here) chocolate cake vs black hammer.
so inserting theme would make us actually compose something in those 64 bars not just cut a wip or.song. get it?

I like the theme idea, also it would make the entries compare, like if tracks are all vastly different it would be easier to compare styles if it had a theme. Like tribal, space, some shit.

I'm in anyway, I don't get as much time as I would like with this new job but I know I have time to make 64bars.

So had a busy weekend, just got started on this today.

So far the group has been setup and the ground rules have been put in place. Still room for adjustments if need be.

You can start putting songs in the drop box, we will start voting officially next week Monday-Friday.

Still trying to work out how to group songs for each week on the sound cloud group.

Not sure if I should just delete the old tracks and start fresh every week or archive old posts. Again open to any suggestions. Might try and work out a theme each week if that's something everyone is interested in. Winner gets to choose.

I reckon response will be good - internet producers jump at any opportunity to put up unfinished clips of their work to get comments/plays.
