How to set up sidechain compression in FL Studio

Right, so you got your Kick Drum Channel on the mixer. Now input the FL Peak Controller on that channel on your effects board. Next thing you want to do is to set a compressor on your Sub Bass Channel on the effects board. After you have done that you now want to select the threshold on your compressor, give it a little tweak and then in the top left hand corner bring down the menu by clicking on it and choosing "Last Tweaked Parameter" then in that menu choose "Link To Controller". This will bring up a box to whcih you select "Internal Controller" and select the Peak option, anyone that doesn't ahve a LFO function basically. Now your all set up and gd to go. Also in the FL Peak Controller turn the mute OFF! Now the next stage is tweaking the compressor and the Peak Controller settings till you get a nice balanced sound. On the Peak Controller this will be achieved by tweaking the Base, volume and decay. On the compressor you will be looking to tweak the ratio, attack, release. Usually to get that pumping sound you will have a high ratio setting and fuck about with the attack and release till it sounds right and remember different sounds are going to have different sidechaining settings, thats is why i have not given specific compressor settings etc.

Von, there is some good stuff on compression in the bible yeh?? If not I thought the search would have popped up a million and one compression threads... theres been some good info amongst the waste so it'll probably take some digging...

Compression for me, it was one thing knowing what each of the knobs did.. but it was still hours and hours of playing around with it for different uses before I actually got a compressor doing what it should and actually hearing what differences I wanted to make in the sound

Span them out for instrument groups, dont clump them on a couple of channels.
