Battling is soooo hiphop

just submit your tune to Pressing Issues for the contest

best tune gets pressed

How does a beat battle work in hiphop?

I'm up for putting my beats out there.

um.... yeah kinda basically - kinda like either a poll on beat submissions or a tournament bracket to see whose snare can eat the most breakfast

although there are rules, there is some structure - mostly like a grip of samples is offered as a .zip and everyone must use the same sample pack - whoever freaks it most chauncey wins something... whether it be some vinyl or some other goodies

face it... a portion of people haunting this forum - probably most since its a production advice spot - ain't pushing tunes onto vinyl

how satisfying is getting one more myspace view? or having someone tell you to truncate your drums?

a battle is something I've always seen as a good thing on the right forum - and if this is the global meeting place for the dubstep heads then it follows that even the kids that can't get their shit on plates might have something to keep them occupied - and push them to develop their sound in a way that entails true community feedback - feel me>>?

think of it as day camp for the youngstas

haha
my snare will snap your mommas neck

but seriously...

I think the coolest shit I have seen regarding hiphop beat battling is the live MPC smashing that goes on.

gotta few homies that are the masters of that shit

Nah - no battles for me. I'd rather do my own thing with my own sounds. But i know where your coming from. I used to have scratch battles online. Cutting and recording scratchs is so tedious - allmost boring. Best left as a free-style art!! I scratch for a coupla mates with MPCs. Heaps fun! That shits cool as! But yeah - battles - nah - just make wiked beatz and send em thru to get rated.

My worrying amount of permanent backhair says otherwise !

Its not too much of a bad idea - but I get the impression that most producers on here wouldnt want to feel as if they were in 8 Mile.

The best thing about Dubstep is that its a great musical community
Everyone sending eachother 320s and people trying to push the sound forward rather than competing with each other

i do hiphop beat battles... on internet.. the starter makes an .zip/.rar pack with samples and you have to make a track with that pack. You cant use other sounds besides whats in the pack. Most ppl dont like it, but you can see it as a challenge and to spread your vision on samples. How to flip it and make it dubsteppie shit like that.... its quite cool only hard to find cool samples...

If you win the contest, you've to make the next .zip/.rar pack etc. When you've 10 contests done, you can make a little album with 10 tracks with the winning tracks. Quite entertaining.

I would try the contest and drop a concept if someone makes a little pack

sounds like mad fun... not so much the competitive battle thing, but a sample pack given out and seeing what everyone comes up with would be cool i reckon
