Who here actually buys the Sun?
If yes, can you not read, or is it the fear of indepth journalism accompanied by frank and honest photojournalism that appeals to your psyche?

Just got a mail from their legal department after i mailed Smart twice today..i threatened them with liable and invasion of privacy after they called me a moron and printed my email address in the paper today.

I hope Mr Bevan doesn't feel put out by people into his music reacting in the manner they have regarding all this, i just felt something needed be said to Gordon Smart and the way he went about it.
I don't know if any of you are aware of this either, but Smart actually offered 5 large to the Guardian journo who did a piece on Burial a while back.
erm, he didn't offer me a specific amount, i feel i ought to point out for the record - he told me there was 'money in the bank' for info on burial and i told him i wasn't interested. beyond smart's general twattery this week - 'humourless', jesus, pots and kettles anyone? - he DID violate the press complaints commision code of conduct (which the sun subscribes to), in three areas of the accuracy code, when he claimed that the 'only five people know i make tunes' was given to Bizarre:

http://www.pcc.org.uk/cop/practice.html

Accuracy

i) The Press must take care not to publish inaccurate, misleading or distorted information, including pictures.

ii) A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion once recognised must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and - where appropriate - an apology published.

iii) The Press, whilst free to be partisan, must distinguish clearly between comment, conjecture and fact.

fuck them
They sleep like babies I'm sure. Someone in this thread mentioned a book by Nick Davies where he investigates the media and find that the majority of stories come from companies themselves along with the government. On top of that they all have an agenda to push so what you get at the end of it all is a paper full to the brim with propaganda, bollocks and a heafty dose of celebrity nipples....

I think this thread proves that we should all either stay away from papers such as the Sun or we should all organise ourselves and have a go at them en masse.

Very succinctly put.

I found it quite amusing. People really need to get over this, there's a lot more important things to spend your energy being outraged about.

I'm curious - is there anyone who thinks the Sun has *any* principles, ethics, journalistic integrity or respect for either the facts, or humans, at all, who would actually be convinced otherwise?

'Cos I'm pretty confident that anyone who would be convinced, already is, and everyone who still reads it would not give two shits about any of those things.

It's entertainment. Not news. It may be sold as news, but it ain't. Ignore it, tell anyone you know who reads it that it is shit, but don't be surprised when they don't listen.
Of course the Sun is a horrible waste of space but it says more about the people of this country than anything else.... if they didn't want to read it, they wouldn''t print it.... at least its not the daily mail though eh!
Trashy tabloids are in every country, and the Daily Mail and Sun are pretty much equally pointless.

to see clusters of related information styled as narrative and to feel drama.

that's a coincidence, though.

my beef is, after looking at good old will's myspace,
when i listen to his tunes i am newly overwhelmed.
i see his face in my mind's eye.
he speaks to me, saying things like,
"hi, i'm will of the bevans and i hope you like this tune you're trying to listen to. do you? do you like this one? do you like my hat? i hope so. can you help, i'm trapped in this car..."
all of this masks the music from my listening and i just want to watch him on strictly come dancing with p d james.

no but if i ever see him i'm going to get his autograph and try to convince him that i understand how he feels. then i'm going to point him out to everyone around.

but only cos the music told me to.
just the music.
only the music.
his music.
that brightened up my work day

good to have you back Bedward

most people I know who read the sun read the sport, jizz one off to page 3 then throw it in the bin.

if this is a person's integrity for buying a newspaper, then who cares what they read inside it. its a shame but the murdoch empire has too much of a control on everything.

he owns bskyb, the sun, like 10 american tv channels, loads of australian as well as british. many newspapers around the world, many publishing companies etc.

If he doesn't like the opinion of some journalist / editors work, he'll have them fired. if they're not in accordance with his views, he won't publish it. its not exactly subjective/informative and anyone with their own righteous opinion shouldn't be buying his products nor taking notice of them. regardless of this issue.

still though, massive big ups to burial and I hope to god he gets that award. nothing but love..

Anyone got any knowledge on what tunes are going to be on the EP?

I'd like to see that filthy dubsteppy thing from the Untrue preview mix (think it's called 'Speedball 2'), and then possibly Feral Witchchild. Maybe a few until-now unheard pieces too.
