Apologies for the bad pun. In 2004 bhangra briefly went mainstream on the back of 'Mundian To Bach Ke's success(5 years after it was originally released). Dre and Timbaland were sampling Bollywood while bedroom producers in the U.K were putting live tombi and dhol over big U.S hip hop instrumentals and adding Panjabi vocals. Bhangra's still huge ofcourse and now has slots on Radio One and 1Xtra but with these mixes I just wanted to take it back to when tunes with Hindi hooks and Panjabi lyrics were getting daytime play on commercial radio. I love the way these singers really know how to throw their voice.
