warble bass effect

Postby col » Wed Apr 19, 2006 9:39 pm

Bin tryin' to get a real smooth tight warble effect on my bass lines. Ive been putting a slow attack and fast release on individual notes. But it doesnt sound as loose and clean as it does on released records. Is this some sort of effect used? can any1 tell me coz its propa doin in my swede!!!

Easy boss, it's all about assigning the LFO of your synth to change when you adjust a certain parameter. For example you can set the lfo to change rate when you move the pitch bend on your keyboard. Higher pitch makes it go faster and vice versa. Just make sure it does'nt make the actual tone bend by setting the amount of steps to zero. Of course you can set it to react to key velocities or what key you play. Mess about and see what's good for you.
Hope that makes a little bit of sense.
good luck!

Filter Cutoff assigned to your lfo will get that trade mark wobble

Easy as that

Try sending it somewhere else tho, more interesting options to be had than the stanard Filter cutoff

yeah lfo to filter cutoff..but..maybe you dudes can help me out..

cant find a decent synth that changes lfo rate smoothly?

one I'm using at mo has a tempo based lfo rate which is very limiting..or another that just has a speed % value which is a pain for getting 1/4 tempo synced wo wo wo wo

what you after dark crew using $hy? like on cowbell dub

and why does n-types wobble bass sound sicker than any other?

what's the secret ??

spill the beans dudes, please!!

yeah you see junglist has one of those really annoying knobs that has some kinda logarithmic scaling to it instead of linear...bloody nightmare

albino 2 cool but that modulation matrix can be long

yeah its all about the es1, nice expensive wide CLEAN sound, unlike some of the vsts out there where you end up spending half an hour trying to turn off the rubbish delay/chorus/arp/noise it loads up with (WHY DONT SYNTHS FIRE UP ON A NORMAL BLOODY WAVEFORM!)

also the new cubase has a similair clean soundin synth that comes with it if like me you have no time/money for elitist silver designer computers with one mouse button (i am not a seal!) :)

if ur on reason try sending the cv signal from a synth trough a splitter, then send one cv signal to filter cutoff and the inverted one somewhere else like distortion depth etc. also loads of flipped lfo's on various distortion parameters give a lot of character and movement to the mids on a bassline

Any one know how to create a similar sound to the rubber chicken womp or midnight by loefah. I can get the movement but that gully sound i just can't get right, any oscilator or filter settings i should be aware of? cheers.
