never really got into theo's productions as much as Omar's (only have a few Theo Parrish records mind) but to catch Theo DJ'ing would be the ultimate

Theo played down Bristol not long ago - perhaps the most energetic and amazing gig i've been to into my life. Man is active behind the decks to boot.

But yeah, Kyle Hall is doin thangs to.

alreeeet jackmaster....calm down

saw carl craig play three times the last yr n half, once at a small Cardiff club, closing Bloc and then Sonar. TBH each set was completely different, the first being more minimal, the second being more "ravey" and the last being pretty choc full of classic house tracks. none were mindblowing but certainly did the job. he defo like's the strings a bit much though.

Probs gonna see him play with Mad Mike Banks at Melt n all....doubt that's gonna sound too trancey?!

and new sound wise i'd say Zomby. off.his.rocker.

I feel blasphemous saying this because Theo Parrish is a great producer, but I can't take his DJ sets.

All the pissing about with the volume and EQ's is painful and sounds like shite most of the time. He had/has a residency at PP and I went a couple times, tune selection was really great but as a DJ it was one of the worst experiences I've had down there.. he left my ears ringing.

I think Mosca has a new sound

Where's a good place to start with Omar S? Does that Fabric CD provide a good representation of what he's been up to? I saw him at Bloc but I was off my tits and can't remember much

Omar S is great, but I wouldn't say his sound is new.... he's got a new take on an old sound. In a not entirely dissimilar vein I'm partial to the Ostgut crew, particularly Shed, for putting out some heavy stuff that draws heavily on nostalgia for old Detroit stuff, Chicago house and uk hardcore/rave, but without getting stuck in a retro rut. Shedding The Past (Ostgut 2008 I think?) was a great album but his white label stuff as Equalized (EQD) and WAX is even better. Seldom Felt are pretty great too.

More techno... James Ruskin/OVR, the guys on Sandwell District (Function, Silent Servant, Kalon etc), Alex Cortex, Kevin Gorman, Mike Dehnert are current faves.

Geiom, Mosca and Julio Bashmore. Was never interested in post 90s house or funky until I started listening to these guys, instantly fell in love with the sounds.
