Re: [PC] Please recommend me a soundcard

...To answer the OPs question. I've had great luck with Apogee's interfaces and highly recommend them. You could probably find a used Duet or a new ONE for around that price range. They've got both XLR and 1/4in which is nice to have. Apogee gear is great stuff, but since he said this is for a PC g...

Their other software on the site says it's mac only. I thought Max/MSP wasn't platform dependent though?

USBs transfer rates are higher but firewire out performs it at sustained transfers like audio and and large file transfers. I haven't looked for a while, have any USB 3.0 or firewire 800 interfaces come out recently? To answer the OPs question. I've had great luck with Apogee's interfaces and highly...

From their site: "In order for users to hear music rapidly on the SC platform, we re-encode every track to high quality 128 kbps Mp3s. However, if you make your file « downloadable », then the users who have access to it will be able to download the original file (whether it’s Aiff, Wav or Mp3)...

For staring any length of time, black backgrounds with white text (or main elements) are significantly less straining on the eyes. I think any really dark backgrounds work though.

Re: Listening to your track on really bad speakers

i'll give a listen on a pair of shit and decent headphones as well as speakers a lot of the time though just because it gives you a different perspective on a track (which is nice after you've heard it a bunch). It's nice knowing what kind of setup people have if your sending them something online. ...

Re: Making Your Own Sample Packs

making money off it would be hard for sure unless you have something really solid, in depth or original. however I'm sure you'd get downloads if you put some stuff together. Most producers have a sort of ongoing sample pack of their own original bits to use.

It's definitely more interesting to the person making it on the spot since it's all new to you too, as opposed to playing a track out you've already heard a gazillion times. It never really keeps my interest though, getting that level of studio perfection, depth and variance just isn't going to happ...
