Re: That new 170bpm stuff

Thanks for this. I've found that a lot of the vibe and spirit that I enjoyed in early Dubstep seems to be moving towards this tempo/sphere but dBridge, Instra:Mental and ASC aside I'm not too aware of who's making it.

Yeah the off-beat rapping is :?

The Roll with The Punches tribute is class though.

Re: Magnetic Man Pitchfork review

Whatever your thoughts on the album, this is a poorly written and misinformed review. I'm glad though: this and their puzzlingly negative review of the Worth the Weight comp will hopefully keep the hipsters at bay. :m:

Badman DJ as well, nothing but warm bass and good vibes when I saw him earlier this year, left the room very satisfied after the dance.

Re: Thailand

Avoid weed in the major tourist spots. It's rarely worth the hastle/paranoia and you'll probably want to go for the cheap alcohol to numb the constant barrage of trance that gets played at beach parties. On the other hand, the small out of the way spots do not give a fuck and are very chill/weed fri...

Singlehandedly made me reconsider Nightslugs in my label of the year rankings. Hearing it on a system last night was a major highlight.

Re: Juke vs. Dragg

I haven't heard much drag but the stuff I have heard sounds like a poor facsimile of southern hip-hop by American poseurs convinced by Pitchfork that Gucci Mane is the future. I'm ready to be proved wrong though. A lot of interesting elements in Juke though, the speed, the triplets, the dance moves,...

Was relistening to his 08' Essential Mix and geeked out when I heard this. Then I realised it was never released and cursed loudly.

Hessle Audio
Hyperdub
Punch Drunk (thought they'd get a few more mentions in this thread tbh)
Hemlock
Deep Medi

I love some of the tunes on Nightslugs but some of the tunes are just too housy for my tastes. Ah well.

Sort of ridiculous to use this as a news story though. I'm pretty sure 40 000 Big Mac combos will fuck you up as well but that doesn't mean having a burger once in a while will leave you permantently fucked. :?

Re: Laptop djs?

Never understood the whole format protectionism thing. I've seen people kill it on Ableton/Serato/Traktor and have seen drunk DJs tank on 1200's. I get the whole "checking your e-mail" thing but honestly, the worst offenders are live performers, not DJs. I swear I spent an hour and some ch...

My favorite tune on the EP. Reminds me of old Timbaland tracks without all the elements I dislike about old Timbaland tracks.
