Re: The most ridiculous comments regarding music production
What exactly do you deem as experimental? From the old days, most tunes sounded the same. Just drums and deep sub basslines. Not too much experimentation Infact, in more recent years, people have been doing different things, trying out newer sounds, styles & influences, experimenting. A track s...

Re: Monitors?
I'll say what I say everytime someone posts a thread about monitors - don't fucking bother with M-Audio, I use M-audio monitors and they are literally the two biggest heaps of shit that your ears will ever have to endure . . . period. Have heard nothing but praise for samson though, the Rubicon's, f...

Re: The NI Massive Q&A Thread
hi I wonder if someone can tell me how to get massive into cubase VST. I can get the standalone to work perfectly after deleting the NIMassiveDataBase file but now cannot figure out where it is in cubase 5. cant find it in the vst plugins folder even though thwe installer says that it was installed...

Re: Datsik himself explains his bass.
haha, yeah - I remember one thread where somebody explained exactly how to get Datsik's and Datsik posted a comment saying "yeah, that's basically it" - apparently detailed descriptions of the bassmaking process just don't cut it for some people these days!! I remember one post in p...

Re: Datsik himself explains his bass.
Now if only skrillex could do a interview like this, DSF would be like new without all these questions left and right. Nobody should ask anymore questions about how he approaches making basslines cause he clearly states it in here, www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoDCLUoX-xM You'd think this would be the e...

Re: The most ridiculous comments regarding music production
The most annoying thing about when peeps come up to producers and try to slate EDM as not being 'real' music is that they don't realise all the music THEY listen to is mostly electronic these days too. They seem to be under the impression that bands just get one mic, switch on record and boom, that...

Re: The most ridiculous comments regarding music production
This isn't really a stupid comment as such, but I was in a band way back when and we had a bit of a douchey lead singer and we'd been writing this song and he made us stop and said (these were his exact words) - " I don't like the drum beat, why don't you play boom ticky boom tickidy boom ticky...

Re: The most ridiculous comments regarding music production
"I don't care if it's booming into the red! It sounds good!.." I then proceeded to slap that boy into reality. :6: Lee "Scratch" Perry used to push it into the red all the time....If it sounds good, do it. Lee "Scratch" Perry also used analog gear - if you can get hold...

Re: True Metal-step Collab?
Been going over a few things, and we've decided that the only way this is going to work is if we make it drumstep rather than dubstep. Mostly coz it's difficult as hell to write metal riffs at anything less than 180bpm. We're workin on a prototype atm with a midi guitar track, I'll put it online on...

Re: Most neutral studio monitors?
Whatever you do, never buy anything from M-Audio!! I've got a set of Studiophile's and they are the biggest heaps of junk I've ever heard - makes everything sound like it's coming out of dog's arse!! Surely this is what the Skrillex lovers want? I have a Great-Dane. The shit that comes out of his a...

Re: Want to find the perfect kickdrum for your tune ?
thanks for the post, i think i already knew all this but after reading i am now asking myself how it is possible to start a track with the drums... wouldn't you have to do your melody/synth/bass/whatever first and then choose the samples accordingly so the frequencies don't interfere too much? Work...

Re: Guitar Amp Modelling
yeah, I would not go on stage with my guitar plugged into a Laptop :corntard: But for homerecording im a guitar rig fan., But at the moment i use it most of the time as an all purpose fx-suite That's the only flaw I found with Shred, there is no way near as much FX and mangling opportunities - alth...

Re: Guitar Amp Modelling
that being said, im still not convinced by any modelling stuff. its not quite the same as an massive cab moving air. ha. :Q: Yeah I'd agree with this hands down - if i could afford to get both my room decked out for recording and nice mic I'd just straight up use my all valve Marshall half stack!! ...

Re: Guitar Amp Modelling
I actually like Amp Rack and Guitar Rig more judging from this sample. o.o A lot more clear and lively. Might just be a clash of taste, I found them a bit to fuzzy to be honest, I've always been a fan of a nice tight tone which I found more in the Shred modelling software. Also felt the Shred had m...

Guitar Amp Modelling
Not sure how many people use Amp Modelling software round here, but I found some really awesome freeware modelling today that I thought I'd share with DSF. It's called AcmeBarGig Shred - I've only tried it on my guitar at the moment - and it sounds better than any other guitar modelling stuff I've u...
