It's typically thought by younger people because of the way the media portray DJs as people who make music, particularly because Hip-Hop videos put DJs into the publics attention and in that genre there actually once was a time when the DJ created the beats on the spot by manipulating existing songs...

learning some funk/jazz licks on the keys might help you come up with ideas, "Purple" is all about having a powerful melody.

used to absolutely despise this type of music when people first started playing it over here but now i can't get enough of it, one of the best styles i've discovered in years. most fun music i've heard in ages.

Do you people think that inspiration is an actual thing? I know the concept is vague to begin with but I've always felt that for me there is nothing but hard work and practive.
