Re: list of quality, cheap plugins...
For those who are on a mac, the airwindows plugins are very good value - in fact there are a large number of plugins there that are completely free.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-30
so say for instance someone looped the fuck out of sample and dropped the pitch way down, would this be considered re-synthesis. Sorry Im a little new :( pretty much. A lot of timestretching algorithms actually use resynthesis as a way to create artifact free timestretches - they look for portions ...

Re: Native Instruments FM8
Once you learn what different modulation routings do in FM8 you can make pretty much any sound, including wobbles and subtractive style stuff. You also have the benefit of the morph window which allows some very flexible modulation of your sounds. There is an excellent series of FM8 tutorials by Tri...

Re: main sections reverb on insert
I didn't quite understand your post, but will tell you what I do in case it is what you mean. On my tracks I usually use one short reverb and one long one, set up on bus channels. Most channels will have a send to at least one of the reverbs, which are relatively low in the mix - it helps to glue ev...

Re: Finalizers (For Listening / Web Showcasing Purposes)
For finalizing you will have better results using rms compression but only aiming for a couple of dB gain reduction, then topping off with a limiter to catch the peaks and allowing you to push the gain a bit. I would probably use slower and gentler settings than Basic A suggested but use a slightly ...

Re: Izotope 4
Ozone does work nicely on group channels but they also make alloy which is a bit less CPU hungry and is designed as a channel strip. I own Ozone but didn't buy alloy - yet. I think they complement each other well but thought there may be better channel strips for the money

Re: the loudness war
Also - you will acheive more by learning how to mix properly than you do by strapping an Ozone preset over your mix. His mixdowns are not necessarily better btw - he may just chuck tons of distortion on everything

Re: Best way to burn in headphones?
My way is:
Hook them up in the evening, load itunes, set it to shuffle, press play. Set the volume to the kind of level you would use to produce loud. Then leave it running overnight.

Re: processing
there isn't an easy answer - but for most breaks try to avoid dynamic processing cause they don't need it - go with EQ in spades though

it's a good track. I'm a sucker for those filtered chords. I would maybe bring the kick up in the mix a bit.
Good stuff tho

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION-26
it's a nice change from some other packs - will have to work to get original sounds, but part of the appeal of these comps for me is to force me to work slightly differently to my normal style.

Re: ? When resampling or bouncing basslines
I would personally never bounce with reverb because there is much more flexibility if you keep it separate - but it depends entirely on your style of working and i sometimes resample stuff and delete it, only to re-use in a different track.

Re: Production milestones
Most significant for me was probably being able to finish tunes without them sounding like endless loops and without having to grind away for months (I have a horrendously busy job so real production time is hard to find)
That and getting a track released

Re: wat makes it deep?
Space, Pace, (SUB) -Bass. Also dont make the drum hits too aggressive. No huge white noise snares and Vengence kicks. Keep the drums organic. although gated noise snares and filtered kicks can have their place if used right. Would you care to elaborate on this? Not sure what you mean by gated noise...
