Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Oh, also, another question about hooking up the monitors. Well, not really a question as it is more of a request for a second opinion. I was thinking about running an M-Audio FireWire Solo and running some TRS to XLR cables to XLR inputs on the monitors. Does that sound about right? Sorry for all th...

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Actually, upon reading all of this I've decided to stick with DAW for a while before I get any sort of midi controller. Now the issue is which DAW to buy. I've pretty much narrowed it down to either Ableton Live 8 or Reason 4. Can anyone with experience give me pros and cons of either? Ableton Live...

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Well, I'm getting an external soundcard. I'm already pretty familiar with Ableton, I used Ableton 7 quite a lot when I was in my old band in the studio and for some production. So...

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Well, I just got rid of a bunch of guitar equipment (Two guitars, three amplifiers, 6 pedals + pedal board and two cabs) so I have a little extra money. I've been playing guitar for 7 years and I feel like I've pretty much ran my course on that instrument making that type of music. I felt really co...

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Thanks or all the help guys, seriously. I feel like I sort of have a decent idea of what's going on haha. With that being said, here's the basic idea. I already have a MacBook Pro, so I'm going to be adding some decent krk monitors, ableton live 8, an external soundcard (to be safe) and an M-Audio A...

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Okay so I've basically decided on getting the APC40 and an M-Audio Axiom 25. Will I need any other equipment like this as far as hardware goes? Is this too much?

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

Well, I already have a MacBook Pro. So I'm not going to be spending too much. I already have a ableton live 7. Basically all I need are monitors and some sort of midi controller (and a sound card). I'm pretty set on diving into it, as that's how I come about most things.

Re: Basic dubstep set up?

MacBook Pro KRK-RP5 Monitors Akai mpd32 Ableton Live 8 Does that sound reasonable? Also, I've read a lot about soundcards, are those ...

Basic dubstep set up?

I'm pretty much new to the whole electronic music idea. I've been in multiple bands playing guitar and stuff like that and know the set ups back and forth. I guess my question here is what is a basic set up for making this music. Sorry for asking such a stupid question but I didn't really see anythi...
