If you're going to use more hardware in the future, it's probably a good idea to buy another soundcard.
2 inputs is a bore, on secondhand sites you will find relative good soundcards for not that much money! Check it out

Re: Gear lust
I always send the kick drum to my mixer and boost the low frequency's to the max.. Suddenly that lame ass kick drum, becomes one of the baddest kick's in the world!

Re: Gear lust
The 707 is the best live drum there is... it's raw , it cuts thru the mix & the volume faders are heaven in a live set up + the awesome tr way to sequence. But it's not more than that, you have to love the sounds & even if you love him, you'll have to sculp them. For studio purposes it reall...

Re: Gear lust
@the hardware crew: So, I haven't been keeping up. What is your setup like these days? Have you got any recordings off your hardware rig? I just rearranged my studio for a summer of doing hardware heavy, live-ish recordings with Maschine as the nerve center. Started making gnarly techno out of nowh...

Re: Gear lust
So...Soundcraft EPM6. Thoughts? (Fragment?) Standard! It's a very good mixer, eq's are nice for eq sweeps and the gain saturation is good!! Knobs and faders are good! The only reason why I shouldn't buy them is because if you start too use more gear 6 mono/2 stereo & only 2 auxes could be limit...

Never heard of this kid, but it seems like he has a lot of talent. Really nice what he did with it and how quickly he came by pretty cool idea's! Well worth checking out some of his actual productions, here you go: https://soundcloud.com/straydnb Yeah, but his dnb/footwork kinda vibe don't intrest ...

Don't know if there are any people with a modular/cv gate synth?
But I just discovered this, and it looks pretty neat. (But don't own a modular/cv gate synth)

Deal with it, or make a ghost kick drum track for sidechain only!
(Or you can draw volume automation or use auto pan as sidechain)

Re: Ableton used as multi track recorder and editing system?
Silly question, but if what I'm recording in is MIDI sync'd then why would I need to warp? you wouldn't--but ableton defaults to putting in warp markers in recorded material. Ergo... Is there a way to turn off that feature? (or am I misunderstanding the point of warp markers?) Do not turn the warp ...

Re: Ableton used as multi track recorder and editing system?
If everything is synced you won't need warping... But if you are recording real instruments, vocals or percussion: Warping could save you a lot of trouble/takes.wub wrote:Silly question, but if what I'm recording in is MIDI sync'd then why would I need to warp?

Re: Ableton used as multi track recorder and editing system?
It is possible... But ableton doesn't have a comp feature!
And comping really is a great advantage for multitracking... But if you don't think you will need that, ableton is as good as every other daw! (Maybe a little better, because warping is a usefull tool. And nobody beats ableton on that front!)

Re: just a warning
The whole sell out thing is a little bit of a rancune issue, imo... Just try to make/finish a tune you genuinely don't like! You just can't... If chase and status or Dizzee went (mainstream)poppy, I believe they did it for the fans they gain with it and the money that comes with it. But I honestly d...

Weird.
What's your buffer size? Try bringing it up a little... 256 samples is in most of the cases a solid setting!

Machinedrum is such a weird guy. And that step sequencer thingy is not bad, could be fun for some live implementation. Still want to try an ableton push for a month or so, guess i'm gonna like it! I know it's far above our price range, but that moog company is so fucking genius. They did it again, w...
