lol this man I work with showed me a documentary about the UK scene. It was filmed in '07 and they were talking about it then, so possibly Heartbroken came out in '06. That tune still goes off?

I actually found the drums to be a bit too loud. But overall I liked the ideas.

Re: Mos Defs best album?

fairly obvious it's Black on Both Sides/Black Star.

just to throw it out there....if this thread was about Talib Kweli it would be Black Star/Reflection Eternal.

fuck I miss the entire Rawkus catalogue. One of the best labels.

Re: Bonobo Remix Competition!!!

Very interesting way of going about things. However it would be nice if he simply listened to all the entries and chose the one he personally liked the best rather than choosing whichever one happens to have the most votes. Unless I overlooked something... Still dope though. edit: Just noticed "...

Re: key to hiphop beats?

If you're going for the experimental hip-hop sound my biggest advice would be to listen to music of heads such as:

Marley Marl
Pete Rock
Easy Moe Bee
Premo
Madlib
Jay Dee
DR Period
Da Beatminerz
RZA
...and so on, just to name a few. Laid the blueprints for all the leftfield shit.

People choosing to put their ages in a thread title is irrelevant. I fail to see why some of your first reactions to this was annoyance.

isn't it called Niche because a club called Niche in....Leeds(?).... started playing it? If that's true then the name is completely appropriate really.

This is also extremely true. And probably the most important fact.

The majority of people at the dance do not give a flying fuck. They're there for the music and not the method.

Re: DJ 'method' stigma

saying beatmatching just to give an indication of actually doing stuff, rather than hitting the sync button if you get me. like you said, you can do mad shit with a controller and something like VDJ if that's your bit! ah yes :) and thinking about it I got a copy of VDJ....have yet to open it. Howe...
