Re: Bass and Kick Compression - How far down are you crushin

I really don't even know how to use a compressor, I don't see the point. Its one of the most useful tools, you should learn it! It can help shape your drum hits, fatten them up, help gel your mix together, make it louder, help instruments stand out in the mix rather than getting lost, theres loads ...

Techdiff-Stochastic Process remix

http://soundcloud.com/techdiff/stochastic-process-remix320 First off, this track is HUGE! :n: Starting at 4:30ish, anyone have an inkling of knowledge about how he may have went about going spastic like that! Its so smooth sounding, but yet it sounds ultra chopped up, reminds me of how Squarepusher...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

Thanx for the kind words everyone, and the criticisms are always invaluable. Took me a while to get the balls to leave something out in the public for everyone like this, and I'm kind of glad I did. It's healthy for an artist to get feedback from other artists I think. :W: I definitely have some sur...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

Lucas Kane: Good space, seems a lot of tracks in this genre lack space, and its always refreshing to hear in a track, less definitely IS more. Nice overall coherency. The bass is clear, and the drums are nicely compressed and clean, good job! Keep it up! :) PRR: You've got a handle on the wobbles cl...

Re: How do you come up with your riffs and Melodies?

Nice responses! Seems like everyone has their own way of doing it. I really like the arpeggiator in ableton! Thats what I bust out when I don't have any ideas. That and if you check out maxforlive.com theirs a ton of max plugins that I also love using for midi madness!

How do you come up with your riffs and Melodies?

So the past couple days Ive lacked inspiration. My main DAW is ableton, so naturally I switched my controller on and played around with some of the midi plugins that are native to it. Suprisingly came up with some pretty solid results, recorded those results to a midi channel and viola! I had some s...

Re: PC Laptop for music production?

Also, this is a series of pretty good articles concerning PC laptops. They ran some tests on consumer makes and models with various interfaces. Good info! Everything you need to know us there. Only took a short google search to find. http://www.pc-music.com/content/lifting-lid-audio-laptops-part-1 h...

Re: PC Laptop for music production?

Apple and PC is all a matter of which operating system you are comfortable with nowadays. Like someone said above anything with an i5 or above will be MORE than enough for music production. I have a desktop PC (dell) running windows 7 with an i7 960 (which im sure you can get in a laptop now) and I ...

Re: headphones vs. monitors

Actually, ive been in a club and have said similar things(the few times ive been sober in clubs ;-) ) . I have a pair of HD280's and they are quite good, and its very much possible to get a great sounding mix out of them. As far as the extreme stereo separation problem that comes with producing with...

Wicked Reaktor Ensemble

Hey dub heads! New to the boards, (although ive been lurking for a few months now). I am new to producing dubstep. But ive been scouring the net for cool reaktor instruments and stumbled upon this beast! I did a search and didn't find any mention of it before. http://www.radiansoundlab.com/index.php...
