Re: Best Way To Optimize CPU

Thanks for all the replies,

Are there any suggestions as to what new laptop/pcs to be looking at in particular, and even in terms of the difference between laptops and pcs and how performance and price correlate?

Best Way To Optimize CPU

I'm sure we all have the problem of not being able to finish tunes due to cpu overload, so whats the best thing to do?

Would it be better to add RAM to my current pc, or buy a new one enitrely?

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 35 - VOTING NOW OPEN

What makes a good song is purely subjective though...there is no guarantee that the person giving the feedback has the same taste as the person who has made the tune. As such, this would render subjective feedback (largely) redundant.
It's not purely subjective, the more types of music you listen ...

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 35 - VOTING NOW OPEN

You're speaking from a very totalitarian viewpoint - speaking only for myself, I give feedback in the Dubs board based on both criteria. If a tune is awesome but rough around the edges, I will still compliment it so.

If it's clinically produced disposable waffle, then I'll respond likewise.

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 35 - VOTING NOW OPEN

constructivly criticsing production value, however helpful/correct, is probably the most destructive thing you can do, despite this there does seem to be a culture of it here.

So people shouldn't give feedback on the tune if it's constructive criticism of the sounds contained within?

The more ...

Intro is too long and doesn't really build to anything. The snare is rhythmically stiff and never really fits in. I thought my computer was freezing during the breakdown.

True

I thought my computer was freezing during the breakdown
If you mean its repetitive, again, true

Re: DSF SAMPLE PACK COMPETITION - 35 - VOTING NOW OPEN

my thoughts:

a - idea is ok, rhythmically too simple i'd say. drums sound too thin. sonics are too clean aswell, needs saturation of some sort. main feeling is that the overall musical idea needs more originality.

b - again song idea is way too simple, needs more in the foreground sonically. some ...

Re: making tunes really fast

Its dependant on alot of things, floating points is one of the only top producers i know of that doesn't spend much time on his music and comes out with quality , on the other hand he's probably the most musically trained, same with burial, he took 2 weeks to make his untrue album, but went to music ...

This is good advice if you don't believe in what youre making/youve rinsed the tune to the point where ur not inspired by it anymore
