Re: Got around £300 to spend on production gear?
Welcome to the harsh reality of life. There are no cheap alternatives for everything. You need to grind hard and buy that shit 1 by 1. Over the years you will start accumulating lots. I'd start with buying a good audio interface, then a 61 key midi controller. I regret cheaping out on my midi contro...

Templates really help a lot. Do everything you can to streamline your digital workstation before you even start making beats.
eg. Custom instrument racks, Filters, Effects, etc

Plus it's only 20 seconds. It doesn't really stick in your memory. Make some new verses and drops, etc.

Re: Uncomfortable blasting your own music?
I know I shouldn't post a reply but I will be nice. I think it's all about doing the right EQing. I can definitely hear a little bit of clashing between your high notes and your kicks. Try and eq out the lower frequencies in your lead and cut out some opf the higher frequencies in your kick. Maybe l...

Re: Anyone converted from FL to Ableton live ? Im debating i
Been using FL and Ableton live for the past year. I got to take a small course on getting better grips on ableton. After that I have not switched back and I continue to love abletons extremely efficient interface. I like that it's all in one interface and you don't get lost in all these external win...

Re: Melodies?
Thanks for the informative posts everyone. Respect! I'm really glad I didn't get flamed on this one. Definitely going to bookmark this page and try as many different approaches as I can. I've been working in ableton everyday and I am definitely learning a lot. I just need to put all these new techni...

That's a good idea, I'm going to have to try beatboxing a melody/beat out.
I pretty much set myself up to get flamed, but yeah I think im just going to keep jamming keys until I get a result...

Re: Melodies?
its not advertisement, ill remove it if you feel that way. Im just lost. any pointers on playing actual melodies instead of just drawing out 3-4 notes in a 4 bar loop in ableton?
I can only seem to get results with automation and thats about it.

I need some desperate help here. I understand the value of scales and chord progressions and I am really trying to understand how to go about doing it. Should I just keep following these scales and hurting my ears until I get something that sounds good? Because I've been trying this approach for a y...

Re: MPK25 Midi Problem
I figured out that I can map the transport controls and the time division buttons now with the external midi sync. Everything is working out good, the only problem now is that the play button acts as a weird dysfunctional tap tempo button and keeps changing the master tempo of the song. Any input wo...

Re: MPK25 Midi Problem
I have tried all of them. The only way I can get results is when I set the transport controls to MIDI/MMC mode and I enable external midi sync mode in ableton.
The rewind, fast forward, stop and play work. The record doesn't and the play button changes the tap tempo button for some reason.

MPK25 Midi Problem
Good day DSF. Been a while. I've been trying to figure this out since day one. But I can only get a few different buttons to work on my Midi controller. Ive been using the akai MPK25 for the past year and I have never figured out how to get them to work. -Transport Controls This is my biggest proble...

Re: Jack Beats Wobble ?
Saw Jack Beats like 2-3 weeks ago. Was so sick! I would guess high ramped lfos at like a 1/12 ratio. Maybe a high glide and make it mono.
