Butthole Surfers - Pepper (Nastier than a crackwhores cooch)
Just wanted to put this out there and see how it goes over... It's been in this same state for 8 months. Life became extremely busy for me recently, so I haven't found the time to finish it. Or should I call it finished? http://soundcloud.com/gr0nt/butthole-surfers-pepper edit: How else am I suppose...

Dubstep on primetime - pleasantly suprised
Was very surprised to see something on "America's Got Talent" that actually excited me. My apologies if this has already been posted. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTUs5A6VJ5U Would totally buy a ticket to that party... wonder how much they charge and what the contract rider looks like?

Re: Seeking NI Massive/general dubstep production teacher.
I think you'll have as much luck learning from someone over AIM/the internet as you do by reading the stickies and tutorials. The only way to get what you're suggesting is to meet someone IRL. Start going to parties, meet producers, if they think you've got potential they might invite ya over. (I kn...

Just a total shot in the dark here..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Get out the multimeter and the soldering iron... If I had just one guess, and not being able to open/see the unit for testing an inspection, I bet the power supply died due to faulty capacitors. Only way to really ...

Hate to be the dick to point this out, but the show desktop button already exists in all versions of windows 7. http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/articles/show-desktop-missing-windows7.jpg Or did I totally misunderstand something? Is it about the placement? It's still there when I turn off Windows A...

Re: Ableton Save Help!
Hey, the reason I went with letters is because of how windows explorer displays files. If you had revisions 1-100, then number 1,10-19, and 100 would display together (if sorting by name) before 2 was displayed. Like Set1.als set10.als set11.als set12.als --- set19.als set100.als set2.als etc is how...

Re: Ableton Save Help!
Yeah, I agree here. My method is as follows: Save as: Liveset-aaaa.als save as: Liveset-aaab.als.... etc ............................................ save as: Liveset-aaaz.als save as: Liveset-aaba.als save as: Liveset-aabb.als save as: Liveset-aabc.als etc This way, your revisions are chronological...

Re: DAW's and Solid State Hard Drives (SSDs)
Yes, definitely installed all of my VST's to the SSD's. Samples - in my case yes, only because I have the room. I use Ableton, and store any project samples in RAM. So storing them on a super fast hard drive isn't too crucial. Since the original post I bought another SSD and put 2 in RAID0. 111GB fo...

http://www.e-phonic.com/plugins/drumatic_ve.php - Relatively simple, but free and effective. http://www.e-phonic.com/plugins/drumatic3.php - also free, and getting more advanced. http://www.araldfx.com/ - I used the DKS thing before. It says "all sales suspended". strange. The version I u...

Love your setup, Deadly. Being just <30 and from Cleveland, My favorite piece of production equipment you own is your Dieselboy poster.
But, srsly, looks nice, wish my room was that organized.

Re: DAW's and Solid State Hard Drives (SSDs)
Yea, but how many platters did your unc have fail in the same time frame on the same network? That would be a more realistic comparison. That's the important info missing here. I bet it was at least 'a few', or more. Got to put it in a frame of reference yeah? You've never had a platter drive die? C...

Re: DAW's and Solid State Hard Drives (SSDs)
And your seagate/WD you got in there now is.... industrial grade? already on the third generation of SSD... I believe Intel released G3 just yesterday. As I keep saying, first manufactured 16 years ago, now on the 3rd generation of the technology. How many Generation's do you need to feel comfortabl...

Re: ATTN: Computer Geeks!
As we discuss in our article "Pay Attention to Flash Controllers when Comparing SSD Systems," it is reasonable to expect seven to ten years of life out of today's SSDs with the capabilities of today's controller technology, which is really beyond the life of any enterprise primary storage...

Re: DAW's and Solid State Hard Drives (SSDs)
And by the way: In 1995, M-Systems introduced flash-based solid-state drives.[12] They had the advantage of not requiring batteries to maintain the data in the memory (required by the prior volatile memory systems), but were not as fast as the DRAM-based solutions.[13] Since then, SSDs have been use...

Re: DAW's and Solid State Hard Drives (SSDs)
Deadly, I promise im not a salesman, anymore. That's why I image my SSD every 24hours to a "spinny platter". Or rather, Windows 7 does it automatically for me every 6:30am. That way, if an SSD fails, I can re-image to a traditional HD, reboot, and get my SSD replaced under warranty, all wi...

Re: ATTN: Computer Geeks!
What do you mean by not stable enough? If anything, the spinny platter thing worries me way more. All it has to do , the R/W head, is touch the surface of that disk once and you're fucked. I have zero stability issues with my SSD, windows 7, latest firmware. And I totally appreciate what you're sayi...

DAW's and Solid State Hard Drives (SSDs)
Just bought a new solid state hard drive for my DAW. Holy Frackinshart! How did I ever manage without one? Ableton Live 8 Suite now loads in less than 6 seconds , like from the time u click until the default set loads. down from OVER A MINUTE. Adobe Photoshop CS3? click it, and the program is ready ...
