Re: Camel Audio's Alchemy vs NI Kontakt
They're really two different beasts. While Kontakt can do most of what Alchemy can, Alchemy is simply not capable of replicating deep multisampled libraries. Alchemy can also be way more user friendly if you don't plan on going as deep. While they're both able to shred samples to pieces, the way the...

Re: Ohmicide vs. Trash 2
not gotten deep into trash, but i've used ohmicide loads and have lots of banks of patches i made that i like to morph through. i think trash is probably more feature full and flexible, but i probably need to get my hands more dirty with it to understand the appeal.

Re: Infrasound?
Lustmord fucks with infrasound. While infrasound is defined by freqs outside the range of human hearing, he's one of the main people I know who dabbles with it. Dave Q saw him live once. Said it was the most low end he's ever experienced. None of his music really has any drums, so i'm sure that help...

Re: Trying to nail this pitch bent sub reese sound
Went to the source and asked Serum. "What you need to do is get a sine wave and put a volume LFO on it. Bounce that and load into your sampler and as you play it at different notes you get different wobbling effects. You can also put a little overdrive on it to fatten it up. You probably want t...

Trying to nail this pitch bent sub reese sound
Doesn't seem to be as simple as dropping a reese sub into a sampler and dropping the pitch from high to low. This seems to have a really ill sounding flutter effect I have heard in quite a few dnb tunes. Here's a couple youtube links that show exactly what I am talking about. This one at 1:15 http:/...

Re: Zedd - Clarity Ft. Foxes (sKulpture Remix) [Dubstep]
Not heard the original but this track has zero dynamics. Everything is slammed. Snare sounds like a chunk of static noise. There's no funk or groove. Not sure why it's being posted on a dubstep forum either. Not trying to be rude or anything, don't let me discourage you, but yea....

Re: how to achieve Gantz style dub delay.
If you listen closely to the shifts in speed with the delay, you'll hear transition from 8th to 16th notes isn't sudden but it lurks from one to the other so the change isn't sudden but gradual. Simply automating a delay from 8th to 16th won't get you that offkilter sound as it shifts down or up bet...

Re: Reduce cpu usage but keeping flexibility
It's really best to save stuff like Ozone for the later stages of the mixdown instead of using it right out the gate. It's a huge hog on resources because it's meant to go on the master bus instead of individual channels. Alloy is more geared towards individual stuff. Also it's helpful to develop a ...

Re: Using a bass guitar in dubstep?
I really like this one. Sounds extremely realistic with legato and when it comes to the stuff that happens between the notes that most samplers/libaries don't go nearly as deep with. Works great for dub type music.

Re: Such a thing as too much headroom?
Much appreciated. I am using some analogue kit but have already made the proper adjustments so they're not an issue with the mixdown. Thanks!
