Re: Producer "Round table"

I would definitely be interested in listening/watching, but I doubt I'd be of any real use involved in it. Personally I still don't think I have acquired enough knowledge to really be all that helpful. Especially since i have a feeling this is going to go deep into the technical aspects of things. B...

Re: Should I use any other compressor than the one in Fl stu

I personally use the FL Limiter as I like having the visual feedback. But you can't rely entirely on that. I have several different compressors I could use if need be but in most cases FL Limiter is my first choice. I also get a bit of use out of the Classic Compressor. I like using that on my kicks...

Re: Adding sub to resampled bass

I don't resample very often at all. I usually use mainly sub bass anyway, so I just use something simple like 3xOSC in FL. I also have a couple Nice little sub bass patches I made awhile ago and I use them a lot as well. However, I always like to have something else to accompany it. Usually a string...

Re: what is your work speed?

For me it just sort of depends I guess. There are times when I may make 4-5 tracks a month and there are other times when I might only make 1 or 2. Some Ideas seem to come together much quicker while others may take some time to develop. A lot of them I never bother uploading anywhere, probably due ...

Re: ways to sidechain in Ableton 9 BESIDES COMPRESSION

Reading this kinda makes me glad I chose to stick with FL Studio. I find it strange that one of the most popular DAWs used by what seems to be every popular EDM producer hasn't made sidechaining more diverse. Personally I only ever learned how to sidechain using autofilter in Ableton so the only sug...

Re: Logic's EFM1 Synth SO UNDERRATED

I think FM is cool as fuck but it's hard and I've only started experimenting with it just now. I know this is offtopic but it's a short question: How would you install Fl on a mac? Is it the old bootcamp/virtual desktop thing or have they released it for mac? That Harmor synth looks sick, wouldn't ...

Re: Logic's EFM1 Synth SO UNDERRATED

I've personally never liked FM synths. They've always been a bit confusing to me. I tend to stick with more Subtractive style synths. Although I have tried FM8 and I actually kinda liked it. One thing that always put me off on Sytrus, aside from the FM part, is everything seems so confined. It feels...

Re: The 48 hour contest FINAL TWO

Yea I did enter. Mine was Mestalla....I think that's what it was called. I only had a few hours and I thought I'd try something different this time around. I kinda figured it wouldn't win cause I know what kinda tracks tend to win these things. Maybe next time. As for the actual winner it was comple...

Re: Fract = Game + Synthesizer

I played it and I dont see it as a synth at all. I mean there are some puzzles in the game where you can potentially affect the sound of an element of the music but it is a puzzle game at it's core. The music you will be creating in it will be the means Iin which you solve those puzzles. In that sen...

Re: Do you think that using loops/presets/sample packs is 'l

IMO Using them is less rewarding and won't really help you define your own sound, which is pretty important if you ask me. Burial created a sound that is rinsed by everyone now a days and all he used were samples. Every single big hip-hop producer of the 80s and 90s used almost strictly samples onl...

Re: [FL] Audio Clip on Piano Roll

Also make sure the time knob is set to 0. Usually it's set to the length of the sample based on the BPM set for the project. This ensures that when it's trigger it will play the entire clip. If you want to hold the sample like a regular note without it cutting off, adjust the CRF(crossfade) to get a...

Re: Remixing Songs

JBE, thats a horrible article. John_Dope, when professional producers release a remix, they (most often) acquire the stems (all the instrument tracks seperated into individual files, for example they may be tracked out and given to the remixer in a folder with files like leadsynth.wav, vocals.wav, ...

Re: Do you think that using loops/presets/sample packs is 'l

No offence to anyone, but making a song using someones bass/synths and turning into an original without knowing how it's made, it's completely wrong, and lame, even thought it's proccessed/resampled or whatever you call it. (I'm talking about basslines here.) No. You can't just say that this applie...

Re: Soundcloud removing remixes?

So if sound cloud removes a remix is it purely down to the label/original owners requesting it to be taken down? If you made a Good remix like Doctor P - Bulletproof ft. Eva Simons (Kredo Bootleg Remix) it would be a shame to have no way of promoting it. Your not profiting from it anyways... That's...

There's serveral download options that exist on the internet already including the demo versions which you should just be able to verify and unlock it as a full version. Or you could just contact NI after you purchase it and tell them you have no dvd drive on your new mac and they'll send you the do...

Re: sin waves vs square

All you have to do is load up a synth and play each wave individually at middle C and you'll hear the difference. Preferably do this with the basic waveforms. Sine, square, saw, triangle. A lot of synths have other waveform options outside of those basic waves but once you understand the characteris...
