Re: The "crumbling" clap/snare...
The Amon Tobin sound has some lead in and lead out in the crumbling sound. I'm sure you could get something cool by layering any number of impact elements and texture elements. The other way to a really crumbly clap is a grain delay. Short delay time, medium feedback, spray and grains to taste. Inst...

Re: How to properly distort bass?
That's basically the idea. But you can take that a lot further. Try out a different effect in the chain here and there and you are off and running. Save the order as one channel strip and then flip all the effects around so they sound different and save another one and so on. Also try a slow sweepin...

Re: How to properly distort bass?
Proper? Well there are a few ways to skin a cat but... Distorting is an art. Some are really good at it. If you look at guitar amps and pedals that are famous for distortion and drive a lot of the same principles can be applied to distorting bass. When you distort (clip) anything you end up adding h...

Re: Deleting ableton live samples?
Couldn't you do a collect all and save on the entire project folder and then go to "manage files" and delete the unused samples? I think that would get you around deleting anything you might need elsewhere. Could be wrong.

Re: Ableton
Benefits to using it? Different work flow that may lead to different ideas. That's about it really. Work flow. Some like it, some don't. I think the one thing that I've experienced is that once you learn it, if you have an ANY abstract idea about audio or sound it's not too tough to execute. Very fl...

this is crazy stuff. I like it a lot. Might consider focusing the mid bass a little bit more in front so it really slams. Or, eq a little to helps it come out with some more power. It gets a little washed out by all the great atmosphere and layers you have in there. Bass tones and drums and everythi...

Re: [Feedback] Heavy Dose (Scalp Remix) - brostep
pretty solid. Liked the melodic elements in there to fill it out and make it feel more musical and not just face punch. Also thought the breaks sounded chopped and mixed in there pretty well. Good drums overall as well.

Re: first song hoping for some pointers.
You have a good start as far as putting sounds down. Can't really extract any direct influences of yours so maybe that's a good thing. I would work on making a real story. Concentrate on a solid beginning middle ( maybe two middles) and end of the story. Some ebb and flow will really keep the listen...
