Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@thelastthing: Cool concept. Drums need some beefing up somehow. I get that you wanted to stick with the metal feel of the drums, but I definitely would like them more if you added a punchy layer to the snare and the kicks. Or at least turned them up a bit. I'm not hearing much, if any sub bass. Try...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Espy: Sounds cool, neat patterns and stuff. But the feed me sampling is kind of blatantly obvious. @Take2: Sick squelchy bass sounds. I like it, but I think the drums could be beefed up and some more high hat action could be used to give it more energy. Maybe add some more layers to increase the en...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@lloydy: Pretty cool stuff! I'm feeling that nasty bass, but it could be switched up with some other sounds every once in a while. I think that your sub bass could come out a bit, not too sure though, I'm on headphones right now (but they're good ones!) @FluidMoShun: Nifty haha. I'd say you could wo...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@ Budspencerton: In that chilled out first one, really cool percussive elements you've got going. Maybe crank up that sub bass just a little bit. Awesome vibes though, really cool to listen to. @ Kilo Beats: Pretty cool sounds you've got going on. Unique chord progression, which I like. Do you have ...

Re: How to get basslines sounding this way?
Something I do a lot is route the velocity of the note to the lfo rate (the velocity will control how fast each note wobbles.) Its a great way to make cooler, more flowing bass lines.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Specimen-Yarp: Awesome sounds over all. I really dig the wobble. Only thing I would say is maybe do something to make the drops a little more dramatic. The buildups are really good, but you could maybe do some high pass filter modulation or something in the bar before the actual drop. Maybe even ju...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@jrisreal: I actually like the high pitched synth a lot. I would say that instead of making the drums so quiet in the intro you could make the hits shorter. This is often done in electro house for intros and stuff. I'm not sure how you are programming your drums but when I do it I just cut the midi ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@mistayif: Really awesome track. Really relaxing. I like the subtle piano vibes going on in it. The perc is sparse but you keep it interesting with different patterns. There really isn't much negative stuff to say about it. I don't know if you're willing to go in this direction but it would be aweso...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Thanks crakasteven, I know what you mean with the eq. My wobbles could definitely have a little bit more low end cut out of them to keep them from clashing with the 808 kicks. Right now I'm using logic express until I can afford Logic Pro. Thanks for the insight on your percussion!

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@blinkesko: Left you some feed on soundcloud! @Crakasteven: Holy moly. Your percussion is sooo tight and really grooves. It gives the track awesome energy. Really good production. The really deep throbs are awesome. I don't know if you want to go in this direction, but to give it some more energy I ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@hudson: Cool intro. The drop was unexpected but thats not necessarily a bad thing ;). Only thing I'd say is maybe bring up the lower end of your bass. If you have a seperate sine bass layer I would turn that up a bit. @Ralfzilla: Pretty neat ambient vibes you've got going. IMO you reverbed out your...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@ninthy4: Super fat sounds man. Really Noisia(ish) sounding after the drop I really like what the old record static brings to the party as well. @Danimal: I've always been a sucker for old video game noises. I really like the intro. Only thing I would say is switch up the wobbles a bit. I don't mind...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@Driptide: Loving all the ARPs and stuff. Really cool clip you've got going there. Drums are sounding pretty nice too. @JLProductions: DEEP! I'm really feeling the glitchy percussion bits in there. http://soundcloud.com/gunnar-hansen/in-progress-wip-clip There's mine. I'm feeling a bit stuck with th...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@voodeedoo I am really feeling the second one! It has a really unique feel to it that I'm definitely digging. Not sure if this is the direction you want to go with it, but I could see this building up into an epic, exciting, dubstep-ballad further into the tune. Excellent work on the chopped up voca...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- JANUARY 2011
@Muta: I'm digging the drums in your first track. The drop at 2:04 in the south park one is killer as well @wirez: The perc is the first track is great, makes it groove. Nice work with the vocals @Mawsta: Fackin gritty mate! I love the diversity of your sounds Here's mine, tell me what you think! ht...

So...its not dubstep, but I could really use some feedback. What are the song's roughest points? Comments on the composition, mixing, structure? Thanks!

Re: "talking" wobbles
Thanks for putting up with this guys, it really helps. I know that this sound is super common now, but I am very new to music production and I am simply looking for ways to expand my knowledge of how all of these sounds work.

Re: "talking" wobbles
Thread resurrection, sorry guys. Is there a decent way to achieve the vowel wobble effect in Logic Pro? My wobble is all set, I just need to get it talking. I'm using the es2 synth. Thanks!
