Aviator - Panda Food 140e (clip)

:t: Haven't made dubstep in a while, so look at this song as "a house producer who messed with dubstep" (even tho its all I used to make a couple years ago)! There's a couple things I'd fix if it were to be released, but this is pretty much 98% done. I'll make sure to leave you guys detail...

Re: PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK!!!! NEW TRACK

Nice oldschool bass and dark minimal atmosphere. I can't stand the rapping, but thats just me, it fits since thats what youre going for, but personally I don't enjoy it. More variation in your bass synth would have been very nice, I was waiting for it to happen but it never did. The overall song see...

Re: Sir Troyan - Starcraft (CLIP)

Like the snareless drop, its tasteful. The deepness is, too. Kick sounds nice all the way through, it hits the spectrum nicely. I got almost bored by the end of the clip waiting for more variation, I feel like it needs more layers added on halfway through that part but aside from that, mix sounds ni...

Re: zeekazi - Tech Loft (SuperDeepTechStepMinimalHouse)

Mix is solid, like, its really good. Nice job on that. Loved the second drop and precise perc and synthing, it all sounds so tight and controlled. I feel like the guitar riff took away from the vibe of the rest of the track (not the guitar but the actual riff) it seemed almost cheesy to me. Aside fr...

Re: New Artist!

The name Stobe is taken lol. My guess is that you're inspired by the music you've been listening to and suddenly want to contribute to it. It really does take a lot of time and effort, self reliance, etc, to become a skilled producer and improve. It has to become a hobby, and you have to want to go ...

Re: Are monitors all that necessary?

Ya the analogy is perfect (unlike most awkward analogies I've heard from teachers :? ) The hi fi system is coloring the sound like 3D glasses color your vision. My hifi's are indeed coloring the sound. But the thing is I'm used to listening to professional music on them, and it's not like it's not ...

Are monitors all that necessary?

I mean, I've been listening to electronic music on this set of hi fi's and sub for the past year and a half. I feel like, if you know what music is supposed to sound like on your setup (via many hours and months listening), then you should be able to adequately mix because you're aware of how much b...

Re: EQing drums in Reason

•open a combinator •create a 14:2 mixer. •create an instance of Redrum •flip to the back (hit the tab key) •wire each different hit to a channel in the mixer (save combinator to now have a blank redrum template) •To EQ one specific hit, hold shift then create an EQ , if you look on the back again t...

Re: sub bass question

Subbasses don't wobble mate. They are already at the lowest point in the frequency range. You can simulate a wobble by just LFO'ing on the volume of the sound. LFO'ing the main pitch also gives an interesting effect. But yeah, look at the bible =P They do wobble. not if you're cutting them off at 4...

Re: New to producing, need some advice

I feel like people don't give themselves enough time to try, fail, try again and learn from what they're doing when it comes to producing. Just spend time with it, it'll come. The best way to get better at making electronic music is by listening to it! It may feel like youre at a wall, but a month f...

Re: Catchy / Melodic Hooks

To get better at writing melody and music and general i found out that doing a lot of LISTENING helps more than anything. But aside from that, when I write a melody there are no rituals, just write something, edit it, edit it some more, if you came out with something you were pleased about, then gre...

Re: Need some advice on melodies.

as far as melodies go, just try this: draw a line of 8th notes for 8 bars and loop it, and move sections of them up or down, you should form a melody in your head and once youre comfortable with it, put some rhythm into it by resizing and removing some of the notes. works sometimes when sitting ther...

Re: The Friday Share A Production Tip Thread™

-Dont be scared of layering (drums, basses etc) more than you think or more than people say you should, there are NO written rules in production, you should achieve the sound you want YOUR way. for example my Snare sound that I now use for all my tracks which took me a while to get as I had a certa...

Any tune?...Cthulhu Sleeps by deadmau5 is just such a banger all the way through. His best track of last year, imo. I'd love to have a go at that thing no joke
